    318i FS: Should I?

    Hey guys,
Theres a 318i for sale about 5 mins away from my house. Asking price is $1200 CAN, bout $1000 USD. I'm so considering getting it, its so cheap.... Looked at it tonight but it was too dark to see much except paint, which looked in almost perfect condition, needless to say the body was near mint. Should I? man what a dilemma. How many think thats a good price?

      Does it run?

I got a free car, which, similar to this, was too good to pass up. It's a 280ZX, one of those cars that I would LOVE to have in pristine condition - just a lot of fun to play with.

The reality, however, is that this thing will suck an easy $10k before it is a) good looking, and 2) running. The engine in this thing will only turn about 45 degrees, so I believe it has a busted rod. Plus it got smacked in the drivers rear quarter panel.

I have the skills, or most of them, to repair that and the body damage, but I just don't have the time to devote to it.

Go back and look at it in daylight, and realistically assess what it will need, and, more importantly, what you expect out of it.

If you are looking for a parts car, offer $500 cash and see what happens.

If you are looking for a driver, go inspect it carefully and, again, realistically assess what it needs and what you can and have time to do to it.

      Just my $0.02.

early or late? either way, if it's clean and in good mechanical shape then I'd be all over it (although I'd prefer a late 318i, for the better motor and brakes).

If its early, I'd offer no more than $500 unless its really clean. I'd rather have a late one. Drum brakes suck.

Its early, has diving boards. I'll go look at it tommorow and take it for a drive then listen to the engine. Sounds like a steal to me, the guy buys cars fixes em up and sells them, hes never had imports in his yard before so i'm wondering if he tried and failed.

Not really a good deal for an early model 318i, unless you have huge plans for it then I wouldn't want to drive one of those. Plus if all those cars in your sig are yours, why do you need another valueless car?

It's an honest question, I have never understood why some people own a lot of old, stock, cheap cars.

Looks like he has some pretty fun "bang for the buck" cars in his collection. But whatever, i'd stay away from an m10 e30, unless it's dirt cheap, it's in excellent condition, or you just really need a DD.

I was thinking winter beater. I'm selling the jetta, and parting the 320. But anyways i went and looked at it in daylight. I can see why its going for that price. auto, 350kms, and little rusty. Definatly not worth it. Thanks for the input though guys.

Youd better not! Then you could give it to Charlie to drive into Jim Warrens car. It would be somewhat ironic that his car would be toasted by another E30.
                              Im now E30less.
