I was worried about not passing my tech next month with our rat but looking at those I am so not even worried.
I want to know more about the GTO though, I am sure it's salvaged title/theft recovery or something but still a fucking GTO?!Mtech1 v8 build thread - https://www.r3vlimited.com/board/sho...d.php?t=413205

LOL ya. Our car has a fuel cell with the best bosch pumps avail; braced rear end with bushings.... built diff..head with 16 hours on it.... the list goes on and on :P Lemons is all about how good your BS tech goes!
noted cars:
rx7 with built high rev rotary engine "larmie" looked and sounded so good; wasnt very fast.
e30 with M60b40 V8 swap; friend was driving this and said it handled awesome - but was rev cutting too early.
Honda civic with LS-Vtec motor on Ground control coilovers.... my friends car: over 200fwhp -broke its drag racing traction bars off the chassis!
several porsches with built motors
RX7 with chevy 350 swap X multiple.....
Mustang mod motor 1995 all done up v pretty
Porsche 928 with widebody and Chevy 350
RX8
bunch of e36's with giant wings (that were all pretty slow on straights and corners)
C4 vette with truck style exhaust stacks

how did he not rape everyone there?
No idea; but it did not put it down like a normally running GTO would. No idea what was inside; perhaps a v6?

I helped build this car. It can be fast but the owner tends to cut corners when it comes to prepping the car prior to a race. We have had a little bit of a falling out when it comes to the car and the best way to prep it for a race. When the car is puking oil out the breather and soaking the air filter, perhaps one should replace the motor, especially where there are two of them sitting in the shed... he ignored me, and it let go 2 hours into the last race I crewed on it. I wiped my hands with it following that race.
Yes those are real Porsche boxter headlights on it, and the fender flares are made from real 914 fenders. I guess they had a good race but failed to win. The car is a winner, they just need to get it prepped correctly. Oh yeah, the front splitter is made from a real GT3 rear wing. Yes it works very well. We found 5 seconds a lap at Thunderhill with it installed.

The E28 is always fast. The E30 and Miatas are cheater cars out of the box. They are cheap, parts are easy to find and fast. If I were to build a lemons car, I'd go for an E30 most likely, or perhaps an e28, hard to say, likely still an E30. There are very few true $500 cars on the grid, and none of the competitive cars are.
The racing is good, the costumes are lame, (Kinda funny, don't get me wrong, but really, I just want to go race. Who cares about a theme.) If the judges know you or your car, and someone on the team has pushed their buttons, they will pick on you. The last race I drove I got black flagged twice for passing under yellow in a corner that had no yellow flag, nor could you see a yellow when starting the corner (turn 8 at Thunderhill, yellow in 9). That kinda turned me off to racing the series. (One of the times I did pass someone in sight of the yellow, but there was nothing I could do about it, he was going 5 mph smoking like it was on fire, and I was doing 85... I got nailed. The judges were out to get our car and I happened to be the fall guy.)
I'd love to build a cheater e30, it would be easy to do. Sure you will eat a bunch of penalty laps for the first few races, but you will get those anyway. Use the first couple races to sort the car out and once they know the car passing tech with no penalties is easy. Then you go out and race for the win.

We're tearing into the motor sometime this week, I think it spun a crank bearing but should be salvageable. Would love to see footage.

Originally posted by kronus View PostIt's not terribly loose, but when it breaks loose it doesn't step out progressively, but snaps out because all the weight is on the front, so I don't feel safe cornering it at any more than 7/10 balls. We need to do a lot of suspension tweaking, I think I'm going to try to fab integrated camber plates in the strut towers before the march race.
