While maybe not worth three posts, that apparently IMSA/F1 turbo-engined AWD M3 is unbelievable...maybe not good for long rallies with all that tire smoke, but that sure looks like potential to me.

admittedly i haven't read through this thread, but as a former ix owner and guy that had to source a manual tc etc, they're a complicated and pricey bitch to have tip-top.

Mine was rusted to oblivion when I bought it for a whopping $600. But regardless your joke meter must be off again. Of course I don't want him to ruin his nice e30 wagon.

Yeah, too fragile, and by Quattro standards, too primitive. And the M20's not a racing motor,
so stick in an M50 stroked down to 2L and-

oops, group B is dead, so why bother?

primitive by quattro standards? you mean the ones where you had to manually lock and unlock the transfercase? hahaha :p

they really aren't fragile, but if you let the maintenance go it's going to get expensive.

Yeah, but like it or not, the short wheelbase quattro coupe is the jazz. An IX cannot even come close to comparing to its agility and power as a production car.
That being said, BMW didn't release the IX for the same reasons Audi released the SWB. It would be like BMW releasing the e30 M3 with mono hubs and race seats.

10 seconds in the 1/4 mile or to 60? :p

my car is about 6-6.5s 0-60. still "slow" but bearable.

Ha ha, your car better be that "slow".
BMW, upon release, gave the 325IX a 0 to 100km time of 9 seconds which was very conservative. I know they are faster than that, but not the 7.1 seconds that the american short wheelbased Quattro was timed at.
Your time now is after building your car correct? I would think it would completely waste a stock IX, let alone my IS from a stand still.

the 9 second cars had a 3.64/3.73 final drive (manual/auto), the later ones had 3.73/4.10, so they got a bit faster. I want to say about 7.5 seconds? it also depends on how hard you launch it. :)

                              it might be faster but I don't know, I don't really care. I don't drag race. :p
