The "A" has nothing to do with the car being automatic, that 325iA denotes that the car has the sport package. So "A"= sport package.

Simple fact is most enthusiasts want a driver's car. Is there a vin on the trans?

Chances are its not the original trans either, the way those pos like to go bad

I respect people's opinion on the matter but even a purist like myself isn't THAT picky.

So are diff swaps a no no as well?
Hey watch the automatic remarks boy. lol

It's common to use used parts these days. Some people cut corners especially when they don't plan on keeping the car. People doing the swap also have different skill levels. Don't think that all converted cars aren't as good as factory built...its just yours.

So since this chassis started out as a C1 according to the VIN plate snap some under the rear bumper shots and lets try to end this BS about the S54 botched car.

25K is a stretch in my book imho.

Wrong. A = automatic been used for decades. S for the N.A. = Sport on the vin tag on the door.

25k is steep, there was one of these in Sherwood park Alberta about 5 years ago, the guy parked it on the street on the regular.

Importing these from Japan is/was pretty common up here. my guess is that car landed in Canada at least 5 years ago, would have set a guy back about 8 grand. max.

pretty good appreciation if you ask me.

Maybe I can correct myself by saying that, maybe it wasn't installed very well, maybe the parts that were used were just, USED. Idk. I found both my dad and older brother 318is's, their cars shift wonderfully & drive very easily! With my m20b25 I feel like it's missing a certain finesse. Perhaps there is a big difference between G240s & G260s?

                  Maybe I'm just a n00b?

                  Never mind then!
Yes, the 318 is going to drive differently than the 325.

I swapped my old 4 door E30 to a 5 speed. It drove better than most of the original 5 speed car's I've driven.
