Whats interesting about your e30's history?

I did some searching and didn't find a thread quite like this so hopefully this isn't beating a dead horse but I think my e30 has a fairly interesting history and I thought it would be cool to hear some good stories about your e30.

The story behind my e30 is a sordid one. I believe it was used as a get away by the owner who had it before me. I found the car at a local euro shop in the back corner while looking for parts for my buddies two e30s. I asked about the car and a week later my buddy and I bought. There was no title with it and the owner couldn't find it in his file. I found some info on the previous owner inside the car and called him. He said the shop had the title so I got concerned that the car was stolen or someone was gonna come try and take but after talking to the previous owner it was clear that he didn't want anything to do with the car.

I considered scrapping it as fast as possible to avoid legal issues but after checking into it, I learned that it did have a salvaged title from a very minor accident in 2010 but it had not been reported stolen. I tried talking to the PO a few more times to get him to apply for a new title and sign it over to me but it didn't work out so I got it running and jumped through the DMW's hoops to get a title for it.

So thats the back ground but the interesting part and why I think it was a get away car has to do with the cars contents when I got it. The owner had taken it to the shop to be repaired and decided it wasn't worth it and left it there so it was left just like he kept it every day, not cleaned out to be sold. The car was full of all the usual things like tons of loose change, but it was also full of paper work, condoms, a casino cash card for Atlantic City, a $2 bill and some other random stuff.

In the trunk I found several pairs of black rubber gloves a few randoms tools and some bolt cutters. I thought this was kind of odd so I started going through some of the paper work in the car. I found several pawn shop receipts from multiple shops all dated within a couple months time for tv's and other electronics as well as some jewelry. I thought, "Who pawns/sells 5 tv's in a month." I also found a storage unit rental agreement where I assumed this guy was storing his stolen merchandise.

Now that I was pretty sure what the PO had been up to I decided to google some of the aliases I found on the paper work in the car. I got a hit on one of them on one of those websites that post peoples mugshots and the crimes they committed. The PO's mugshot was up there and it said he had been booked for breaking and entering, resisting arrest, and assaulting a police officer. So with his record, all the receipts, and the home invasion specific tools found in the trunk, I believe its safe to say that he used the e30 as his getaway car.

One more interesting thing is that I was able to use the $2 bill I found in the drivers map pocket of the car to pay a guy to borrow his tow dolly to bring the car home from the euro shop.

And then I found $5. Cool story bro.

So I was wondering if any of you have a good story about your cars history to tell.

I somehow ended up with multiple crackers in the defrosting vents of my dashboard. They are now known as the dash crackers.

the PO of my car is awesome.
he ran tap water as coolant.
my thermostat and thermostat housing are now bonded as one, the bond is as strong as a weld.

my PO was awesome, really great guy.

That's an awesome story. I'd be weary as hell to hold on to it though...he'll probably steal it back.

My PO took off the "is" trunk lip so there were holes going straight into the trunk and he drove it like that for at least a year...also he always left the windows down almost the whole time he owned it what a great guy, the spark plugs were at least 10 years old, some people just really know how take care of a car. at least the price was too good to pass up

I'd like to meet him someday and shake his hand, maybe give him a pat on the back,

Owned a car for a few days (spur of the moment purchase) and sold it to a buddy of mine. He removed the back seat and found a perfectly rolled joint

The car has been legally transferred into my name and I have the title for it. I have also moved about 4 hours away from the city where I got it and the PO lives so if he wants it back he will have a hard time finding it.

Don't know any of the history of my car. Except that it was 100% un-molested bone stock goodness on euro weaves. The story of how I got it is kinda neat thoigh.

I was out with my girl one afternoon. We were headed over to a friends place to buy a sack of weed. We had wemt a different route that time. We roll by this e30, dirty as fuck, like it had been sitting for a while. I go up to the door and ask the 80yo dude that answered if it was for sale. He said I dont know, how does 500 sound? Sold. Jump started it and drove it home. Still have the e30. She sure has changed a lot the last few years.

I don't know much about my car, other than it being a dirty whore. I believe I'm the 7th or 8th owner, which I found out after buying it. I saw it posted on craigslist with a blown head gasket, I went to go check it out and the owner happened to be a R3v member! Very nice guy.

Also, I found my dad's 318is on craigslist and the owner happened to be a R3v member too. lol.

I guess they were embarrassed to post them up on the forum because they were in rough shape? Anyway, they both look and function beautifully now, and neither have cost us an arm OR a leg.
