knowing craigslist it could have sold anywhere from 2500-3000, which would be a great price. $3500 is still a fair price if the sub-100K miles are verifiable.
Das ist nicht nur nicht richtig, es ist nicht einmal falsch!

here is an example of a crackhead asking price. $4k for a 325is that has been totalled and then patched over with duct tape (I know, I have seen this car in person).

And I have probably spent less on 3 combined that you did on one.

Yeah, WTH is up with the prices of e30s now. I was honestly thinking of selling my e30 and moving back up to some in the touring family. But then I noticed how much e30s were going for, so I decided it's a better head turner than a newer BMW in my head.

I completely agree on this. But as much money as they go for now, I doubt I will get rid of my E30.

Before my E30 days, I had a 240SX. But I can honestly tell you (without sounding like a hipster), "I did it before everyone else did" type of deal. My stepmother bought it brand new in 1991 and handed it off to me when I was 19. When I sold the car a few years back, I priced it reasonably well at $2k. I got so many calls on it and it was gone within 6 hours of me posting it. Now I see them going for 5 grand for some rotted out piece of shit that has a half-assed turbo KA or SR20 with cut springs on it. Worst part is that someone will pay that bullshit price.

I REALLY hope this doesn't happen to the E30, but only time will tell...

I hope it does and I hope my prediction to the e30 m3 of 30 k being a starter 40k being decent and 50k being rebuilt happens. So when I'm to old to drive my son can sell it .

As a seller, im fine with higher prices. But I was looking for a decent stock 318is and they are all listed at 6-7k..

The car Sam was mentioning was in exceptional condition. If advertised by a forum member, it would have been advertised for a minimum of $6500.

IMO E30s are still very cheap for what they are. Supply and demand for good e30s says they should be more expensive than they are. Let me know when they are at 2002 prices.(the model 2002 not the year)

Higher prices can also be good thing. There will be less people inclined to ruin them. They will be "totalled" as much and parted out, and more will be fixed and rust-repaired instead. Vendors will also be more apt to create new e30 products which there hasn't been a good market for because of the "cheap e30 owner" stigma.

Whats a few thousand bucks more when a lot of people on here are spending over 10k or 20k on them for their builds overall...

I think there's a lot of seller confusion: They see cars for sale on CL that have been well kept and have mods selling for $6-8K and they think their stock e30 is worth the same. Amazingly, people are buying these cars... and since a market is based on what people are willing to pay, that becomes the new price.
