How is the value of the car you own going up depressing? Even if you modify it, there's still gonna be someone who wants a modified e30. I'd personally rather buy a modified and enthusiast owned e30 than an all stock and "clean" but often times neglected mechanically e30.
Seriously, what the wang wrangler happened to the E30 market

about once a month, someone posts a thread bitching about e30 prices. we have already 9 pages of thread with people putting in their 2 cents. some comments here are pretty intelligent. the other end of the spectrum sounds like a bunch of penniless 16 year old pimple faced retards.
simple equation really: the vehicle has passed the 20 year mark. the prices are going to go up naturally. i think we all need to get used to the fact that a good e30 is priced in the 3.5 to 4k range these days while a couple years ago the same car was 2.5 to 3k. 7 years from now the same car will be 10k. you will see. i, personally am happy for it. if you can't afford it, perhaps find a car that you can. miata anyone?
i posted this before and i will post it again: about 8 months ago, i was reading a car magazine and they were asking some expert what would be the best 80's vehicle to appreciate in value for the near future. his answer was 3 series bmw's and jeep grand cherokee wagons.
speaking of jeeps, has anyone priced a cj? those things are REALLY expensive for a nice one. i doubt you could touch i decent 80's cj7 for less than 8k. by that standard, an e30 is a real bargain.Last edited by flyboyx; 10-08-2012, 10:04 AM.sigpic

Hahaha. Doesnt look like it even has power windows. I suspect a case of, "Honey, I am trying to sell the e30 but no one is willing to pay what its worth."Comment

This has always been the case with M3's. Even the guys who sought after the stock cars, did so, so they themselves could start off with a clean slate before they modified. They could have saved some money+labor if they started with a modded car already. I think of bone stock cars as a novelty. They are nice to look at and remember how they were when new and untouched but I wouldn't really enjoy driving it. There has to be balance between toy and full scale model. Then when things start to go out, you have to change everything yourself...parts + labor. Modded cars get a bad rap from those hackjobs out there but it's upto you to tell the difference between a hacked car and a nicely modded one."I'd probably take the E30 M3 in this case just because I love that little car, and how tanky that inline 6 is." - thecj
