I rocked a G250 and a 410 open on my first 24V swap. Top speed was around 89MPH...

I agree with this so much. Every time someone asks me how fast my e30 will go, I basically say it doesn't matter because it's faster than I'll ever take it.

I have an m42 which doesn't really count, but I LOVE my 4.27. 2nd will go to 55 3rd to 85 and 4th is faster than I would go. How badly does a 4.10 hurt MPG's in an m20? I still average about 24-25 total, with 4k+ always on the freeway. The 3.73 on my dad's m20 makes the car feel sluggish in my opinion, even compared to my ~100whp.
The first car I ever rode in was an e30

Even on a racetrack, you're going to have a tough time going much over ~120-130mph in most E30s, even with badass swaps/turbos etc.
it seems you think im trying to max my car out?
I dont know where u got that from i was just asking for a ballpark top speed as this thread is about swapping to a 410 and the drivability of said swap, thats all.

I also don't get how you guys are turning 4k on the highway, but I guess I don't typically go 20mph over the speed limit either.

and even with a 4.10 no E30 with a stock motor is going to be gear limited, except maybe an eta. if it bugs you that much get a chip with a higher redline.
Hence the 3.73 but I don't think 4.10's were designed with the intention of being mated to g260's. Granted we do it for the fun (or in my case, for the low cost:fun ratio) it's still not irrational to think that a 4.10 isn't the most practical diff for an e30

I know an e car with a g260 and stock rev limiter will top out at 108 with a 4.10

                this.
4.10's are fucking horrid for dd'ing.
say adios to your mpg's if traveling over 70 mph.
this is coming from a guy who switched his 4.10 lsd to a 3.25 on my last e30; it was the ideal move for me and my wallet.

I love dd-ing my 4.10; seems near perfect for the m42, and first gear makes for great holeshots. I wouldn't mind a really tall 5th gear for highway, but then again, I feel like Rosie enjoys the revs, even when crossing a few states in a day.

2.79 vs a 4.10? lol, come on. also, with an eta tach so it makes it look worse than it is.

when people were into muscle cars, they threw 2.79s in the trash.

Which I did but when you can't even cruise on the hwy without having your foot half way in it, the diff's gotta go sorry. This isn't my dragster, it's supposed to be my fun daily.

Everyone has their own preferences though. Pix are informative for the op

I was DDing my e30 with g260 and 4.10s, longest trip I made was 3 hours highway, prob last time I do that, 4,000rpm like every one is saying keeping up with traffic, mileage sucked but power was awesome, no downshifting, but always felt I needed an extra gear. Driving to work back roads for 40 mins was alot of fun, always could find the right gear but like I said, I avoid highway like the plague. If I didnt use the car for long highway trips I'd keep it, but prob going to put in 3:73s more practical for me. I'd say depends on your commute. Ohh not to bad in stop and go either, since first gear idles at like .25mph haha

My 4.10lsd in my b25 was my favorite gearing back when I had it.
Car was also my daily for over a year.
The 3.73 comes close, which is still enjoyable. Anything below is such a bore.
