on my swap (m52) with a 4.10 I feel it is kinda brutal. First is pathetic. I can't really pull any shenanigans with it, 2nd is better for that. By the time I'm at 40mph I'm in 4th gear. But it is awesome when I wanna let her rip and it pulls amazingly hard. I am considering swapping it for a 3.73 just for a little extra length though.

if that's with a ZF, well, duh. a ZF and a 3.25 is basically the same as a G260 and 4.10, using a ZF with a 4.10 is insanity.

I had a 4.27 lsd on my old cabrio; It was was a blast around town but misery on the highway.

With the swap, the t5 and 3.73 is essentially the same feeling as my m42 paired with the 4.10.

            Go here be happy!

i have 3.73 it works for my driving fairly well i normally sit around 3k at 80 so i normally drive at 70-75 i can eek out 25-27 mpg on the high way and it still excellerates pretty damn good

I loved my 4.10 for spirited driving, but it sucked as a daily driver. I swapped to a 3.73LSD and I love it, not as much as a 4.10 but it is definitely more practical and better for that gas mileage ( esp. in Cali with premium at $4.99 a gallon atm)

I loved my 4.10 gears in my m50'd e30 with a 240 transmission, was perfect for highway and street.

4.10s in a boosted m20 is no bueno lol there isn't enough load in first so I make no boost in first gear at all. Cruising speed at 65 is 3k, I average 17mpg :(

quantifying what? Something that most people will never do? who really cares about top speed? so you can brag to your ricer friends?

Even on a racetrack, you're going to have a tough time going much over ~120-130mph in most E30s, even with badass swaps/turbos etc.

a much more useful measure of gearing, to me, is seeing what speeds you will achieve in 2nd, 3rd, and 4th gears through the thick of the powerband; ie, 3000-6000rpm. that's where i'm driving for fun on country roads and on-ramps.

that and rpm in 5th @ 70mph, which is about as fast as i cruise on trips on the highway.
