I've done this to many cars, generally older domestics where premade sets are not available, and for modding a car for twin ignition.

I been using Kingsborne for years and like them because they sell parts seperately if you do want to make your own, and use Beru connectors which are nice quality.
Additionally I have used their 8mm solid core wires with MSD ignition with good results (no radio interference). Although they do sell both wound wire and solid in bulk..

One of my cars (not bmw) has Magnecores which I feel are far and away the best quality but pricey and can be overkill if you dont need them

Kingsborne wires are worth a look...

I have not seen Ireland's wires but i've had some shotty experiences with their quality on other parts so I would also want feedback from others before buying them.
OEM wires are a no brainer good choice...

Assuming parts in good condition, an M20 engine doesn't benefit from anything better than the OE ignition parts. I use the OE wires.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

I am, they have burned an separated at the boots.
That being said, they are almost exactly 10 years old.

I've been running the IE wires for about 3 years now on my M10 with no issue.

Any real benefit to be had is really when you start upgrading the rest of your ignition. In and of themselves the wires don't increase horsepower, they help facilitate a hotter spark (MSD 6a, blaster coil, etc.) which of course means a more thorough burn and thus more power (ignition basics 101). If you're sticking with a stock ignition setup then there will be no noticeable difference, other than they look pretty.

As to the IE questionable quality quip, that worn-out card might have worked a couple years ago on a couple items. But that notion is pretty out-of-date at this point. As many already know, if there are any issues (not just old popular opinion) they are more than welcome to contact myself directly. These wires are actually made locally here in SoCal.

Agreed, mine lasted a long long time. Walter at Valley got them for me super fast and at a great price. i have no regrets and will be buying another set soon!

i have IE wires and i am happy with them. I have used the VAC ones and they are uber $$$ and first time i tried them i sent them back and got a replacement set as it misfired like a bitch. i used them for a couple of years and then recently started getting a misfire again so i swapped out an old junk set and problem fixed. So i bought the IE ones about 6 weeks ago to replace my VAC ones. I have also tried BAVAUTO ones a few years ago and they were far inferior in the type of connection they had but the wire was OK if you didn't fail the connector pulling them off. The IE ones have proper connectors too (BERU)

There is zero HP to be gained on fancy wires, blaster coils and MSD6a etc over a good conditioned OEM parts on a naturally aspirated engine still using the dizzy type set-up. I have been there done that and tested on a chassis dyno. There might be some economy gains but i didn't notice anything and the cost usually negates these....

So I went with oem for 3 reasons:

                1) The first set lasted 25 years

                2) Reading on spec e30, , those guys say since there is no benefit and the quality of the oem is top notch (they do race these)

                3) Last and most important, i had a coupon for pelican parts and all they have is oem lol

Oem wires are more than enough for most cars , the IE wires are nice and they look cool and they are the same price as Oe wires so its personal opinion at that point

Ya i think the look was the major selling point. But i got the oem for $15 less than ie so that swayed me...
I have no current plans for mods. If i do i go big or go home do, we'll address performance parts then.
