As Long as you're insurance covers flood your cars will be paid for, if you can try to keep the title from salvage, otherwise buy it back from insurance and fix it.

If you have salt water in the car, about the only thing that will save the shell is acid dipping - otherwise, you have salt in every single nook and cranny and it will be a rust bucket soon. If it is fresh water from rain, then you can probably save it.

I feel bad but also mad that people like you didn't do what was necessary to protect your e30.
It's not like you didn't know what was coming. But I still would never let something like that happen that I could have prevented.
You could have drove your car to somewhere at higher land. Or even put it up on jackstands as high as you can. Or pile up lots of sandbags around it.
You could have prevented this, no excuses.

Highly doubt OP wanted to lose three cars and hassle with insurance. I do agree however that a $2 multilevel parking garage ticket is the best money you can spend when a hurricane is heading for your street level house.

i personally know the area where the OP lives, and that area was NO THREAT. Remember you're talking about an area where we live, where this has never happened before...as long as I've been living here....so for you to say to 'that you didn't know what was coming' is way off. We totally didn't expect this storm to be as destructive as it was. Forget abuot protecting the E30s....for me that was last on my list of 'priorities'....i was more concerned about keeping my house, family and friends safe, then my car.....which I'm sure the OP was thinking at the time. Unfortunately his cars took the brunt of the damage, but material things can always be replaced.

I can't see that it would be much harder than pulling out the complete interior, and letting it all dry out. Like mentioned earlier, let everything dry for a week or so before even trying to start the car. I don't think the ECU would even be bad. In that time, change all the fluids, and pull the plugs and turn the motor over by hand a few times.

that is if the water was "clean" and not muddy sludge. and disconnect the battery like mentioned.

Shit man that's awful to hear. I would try what others have suggested and see where you're at with the car. It is just a car and can be replaced even though it sucks. Glad you're ok.

Thats really messed up! As long as you and your wife are alright.....you can move forward. Although i would cry like a biotch.....you can restore it or another vert. Salvage what you can.....change the oil...clean the plugs....change the ECU and lets see what happens. If it don't work....i'll help you find another vert. Keep you head up bro. It will work out for the best.

Here are some pics of what I've been dealing w/ since Monday.

For those of you who don't know, I live in Staten Island, and the tops of these trees in front of my house broke off, and just missed landing on my E30. Fortunately my neighbors knew not to park underneath it.

I finally got power on yesterday after not having it for 3days.....some areas of Staten Island are a disaster zone =(

I just saw a picture on Jalopnik of an old Mercedes SL Gullwing that's halfway underwater/sludge. Heart-wrenching, to say the least.

oh man i would blow my brains out.....
but then again if you owned that car you probably have enough money to pay for a full resto.
