would you buy a car that had been converted from RHD to LHD?

thoughts? and how can one tell that the conversion had been done 'right' (i.e., what are some questions to ask a seller, or things to look out for)?

not specifically asking about E30s necessarily, just about 1980s BMWs in general.

Since we are in a lhd country parts availability shouldn't have been an issue. I would check fit and finish of the dash/pedals/etc.

Only if it's something that's hard to find in LHD. Otherwise, I don't see the point if there's plenty of factory-built LHD cars available.

Why convert? I know plenty of rural mail carriers have rhd cars and use them outside of work. Is it part of our wonderful DOT regulations that its not legal for regular street use?

I've thought of doing this to my car, but I couldn't justify the amount of work. If its something that is not gonna be too hard to find one that hasn't been converted then keep looking.

did you see the for sale ad from the guy in ireland? i bet there are a lot of parts missing from the kit that guy is selling. how about the wiring harness for example? the firewall is different too but i guess that can be modified with a little fabrication. i say its a terrible idea to attempt to convert a lhd to rhd. not a bad idea to have a discussion about this topic but anything beyond this would be asinine. seriously.

Windshield wipers go the other way around.
Bet that's something they look over.

True, but the accommodations are there to easily swap in the LHD mechanism.

eff, no- going from UK to US to OZ is hard enough as it is. Shifting especially.

RHD in a LHD country and vice versa?

                      I'd kill myself and others.

I don't see why not if it's been done well.
The first car I ever rode in was an e30
