Are that many of you really driving with liability only? I have full coverage on my car but now I am thinking about dropping to liability. I've never been in a wreck but I know there is always a chance that I could fuck up and cause an accident.
Basically, I never have more than a couple hundred in my bank account. If I got in a wreck, I'd be fucked unless my car was totalled. I'd never be able to fix it.

Pretty much my exact sentiments, except I have been in a wreck that was my fault, but only because I was driving like a dipshit. I know there's always a chance that I could cause an accident, but it's pretty slim nowadays.
You guys are all right though, I'd be much better of just keeping this car, and making sure I drive carefully. I've put too much blood, sweat and work into it to just up and sell it for another.
Not true. If someone hits you, their insurrance liability will cover you.
if you are going to sell the car, sell it bone stock. Take any mods off that you did to it and keep them for your next e30. You won't fetch any extra money by having a few mods on the car.

What he said.
Or just keep the car - if it gets in an accident, save what's good, and move on. (Il Duce?)
Do a cost benefit analysis. With cars as old as our e30's, it doesn't make sense to fully insure them unless it's with an agreed upon value for a highly modified car. Usually, the difference in cost between full coverage and liability over a few years would be enough to replace older cars like ours.
For those of you with highly modded cars YOU WILL NOT GET VALUE FOR THE MODS EVEN WITH FULL COVERAGE. It doesn't matter what receipts or records you have. They will look at the year, mileage and condition of the car and give you market value (if you are lucky) based on that. Nothing for the mods. They can actually reduce its value. So the only way to insure your car for its true value with mods is to get an agreed upon value policy.
BTW, I'm an attorney and have worked extensively with insurance companies. They will screw you at every turn.
I just went through a long insurance battle over my ix and how Monro muffler totalled it. Honestly your wasting you time and money to get full coverage. The insurance company will pay out barely anything and it takes months to get just a little more. Just cover your ass with liability and be done with it. E30's average value is like 1500 bucks to insurance.
