    new daily driver?

I'm currently looking at a new daily driver. I've been driving the e30 a minimum of 40 miles per day and its is showing it's age and I need time to repair it.

My question to r3v is: should I buy a 2013 Subaru Impreza sport premium 5MT or a base WRX? I drove both and loved things about both.

    Impreza Pro's:

    1) Price
    2) MPG
    3) Fun with momentum

    Impreza Con's:

    1) Minimal power
    2) Sloppy shifter

    WRX Pro's:

    1) Plenty of power
    2) Looks better
    3) More fun

    WRX Con's:

    1) Worse MPG
    2) ~$4000 more
    3) Takes premium gas

What does r3v think I should buy? I want to buy by Tuesday

Buy something really cheap that runs and put the money that would go for a new car into the E30. The sell the cheap car.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

Impreza are good but very boring. They lack any real power. If I were you I'd look for a bug eye WRX. A wagon if you want power and versatility. And you can find one under 7k now all day long. Just my 2cents.lol

Why is premium gas a discount? That is the dumbest reason ever to not buy a car. It is like $5 more a tank.

Okay so my moms forester is not that great on gas... its all how you drive it but that car turns high highway revs and when we were doing 80/85 on I5 it returned 15mpgs or maybe 18 or so. Not kidding.. low mileage car too (2003 with 30,000miles)

Buy a beater 318is> restore your other E30> turn 318is into track car.

            Problem solved, money saved.

As long as having the car payment won't impact your ability to put enough money in your retirement and savings (a bare minimum of 15%), I'd say go for it.

It's nice to know you can leave the fun car in the garage and work on it when you have time, vs having to thrash so you can drive to work the next day. But even then, a nice certified pre-owned would fit the bill nicely and save you some coin.

Oh and WRX big time. Way underrated HP wise.....much closer to the STi then the numbers show.

The speed limit on the I5 only 60-70mph, maybe stop driving like a douchebag and your fuel economy wont suck so badly.

That's good because the I5 isn't the autobahn and you aren't Hans freakin Stuck.

One major reason I'm buying a new car is because I don't want to deal with possible issues like I have with the e30. I love the car, but I can't count the issues i've had with it. This was actually my first idea.

It's not really a discount. Just a very slight negative.

Car payment is fine with me. I'll still be putting away 20% and have some fun money. I'll have about an extra $9000 over the next 5 years if I go with the regular Impreza tho.

Why are you considering the WRX and not the BRZ? Are you looking for the extra space? Same price but BRZ is probably twice as fun with much better fuel economy.

Can I ask you the most important question? (Don't answer)

                              Why not buy a perfect E30 M3?
                              Different strokes for different folks.
