Like already stated, it's not an all original, clean as hell, numbers-matching sport evo, but it is sad to see a unique car with so much work in to it burn up.
Trolling? Reading Comp? Listen, all I'm saying is that tomorrow he can go to the BMW wreck yard, and, if you actually believe his bullshit $2000 budget, he can have the same exact car sitting in his garage in a few months and for $2k.

    It's no big deal.

Cars aren't just depreciating assets, they are also deteriorating objects.

e30 owners some how think that their cars are rare, unique, irreplaceable and a gift from god. They are not. I include standard e30 m3's in that generalization as well.

Do you have any room for passion? The simple fact is that car was turned into a race car, from the exact opposite of one. A bunch of guys with a lot of passion came together and built it, they created something with an old eta. That's w here the value is, it isn't all about the money spent. People who think only dollar bills create value in a car are more worried about their own image and couldn't care less about the automotive culture.
I never said it's all about money. It's all about value. This car's value to someone who doesn't own it shouldn't be so high that it's an atrocity when the car is lost.

Get over yourselves. It's an e30 with some work put into it. Tomorrow, you can build the same car, if not better.

The real value of car modification is the process. They enjoyed that. Car's gone. Move on.

Again, did you read the thread? AFTER the GRM challenge the entire car was gone through, wheels, aluminum block true ls1, AST coil overs, rebuilt trans, etc. The car they sold looked nothing like it did when we saw it at the $2010 or $2011 challenges. For the challenges, they had $50 cast-off blemished steelies and a junkyard truck engine, ebay coil over sleeves, blown shocks, and each race they destroyed a junkyard t5.

Don't feed the trolls, man. There's no point in explaining or defending the GRM Challenge to someone who hasn't done it. It's a surreal automotive experience that transcends brand loyalty. Hell, we had parts from 5 or 6 different marques on our 2011/2012 Miata.

Lol. Guess you have to compete in an event to realize it is true to budget. It's not like we win anything, it's all about making something from a pile of scrap.

Yes, indeed. You obviously don't know shit about the car... so you've either read about it and are trolling, you've read about it and didn't comprehend anything, or you didn't read a damn thing and are just spewing nonsense.

Just read a tiny bit of the thread or even just look at a few of the photos, then read what you posted and find where you've made it obvious that you don't know what you're talking about... it is pretty glaring.

I don't need to read a thing about it outside of the fact that it's just another modified e30. It's an ETA for the love of god. Would you be saddened if a 1989 VW golf burned up?

No one was hurt, who gives a shit about the car. End of story.

Effort and craftsmanship count for nothing to you, do they? It's not the fact that some random eta burnt up. It's just disheartening to see a car that a group of guys put thousands and thousands of hours into building, go up in flames. I don't care if it was a Yugo, if someone put the same amount of time, effort and thought into then it's sad. If you can't see that, then I don't know what to say.

You can doubt it all you want. The ebay seller bought it locally for $39k and was flipping it for $70k. Non-conforming VINs aren't accepted by eBay even if the car is federalized so he used a random VIN. The car was federalized by Sun International, the same people who federalized the Escort Cosworth and Renault 5 Turbos.
