There have also been instances of cities or counties illegally lowering speed limits in high traffic areas in order to generate more revenue. So the speed limit that is posted may or may not actually be accurate. Most places have a mathematical guide for setting a speed limit that they're supposed to follow... generally something like the 85th percentile speed of vehicles traveling on the road, with a few possible modifiers.

OP: Go to traffic school if they give you the option. If not, I'd lawyer up. That's simply your way of insuring yourself that the court and the officer followed all appropriate guidelines. If they find you guilty at that point, pay up.
I agree with you. There are too many bullshit laws. If you think 45mph on the roadway pictured is bullshit, you are wrong. Can some people drive that roadway safely? Yup, but thats why officers usually give you a "cushion" when it comes to speed limits. but 50% over the limit is a bit much. He is driving freeway speeds on that roadway.... Roadways need to be safe..period. Speeds limits are created to keep roadways SAFE not for people to enjoy their vehicles on them. The problem is not the speed limit, its people that think they do not need to obey them. Driving is a PRIVILEGE not a RIGHT.

This is coming from a car guy who is currently putting an LS1 in an E30 M3...http://www.r3vlimited.com/board/showthread.php?t=250378

Am I perfect? Nope. Do I speed sometimes? Yup. But when I get caught I blame myself not the limit or the government. I knew the rules before I played the game...

You are just coming up with "possibilities" on how the officer may have been wrong....PATHETIC. I am all for contesting a ticket if it was issued incorrectly but this is just sad. I have received many tickets and I did not want to pay for them..but I did. This is the attitude of not taking responsibility is the exact reason why we read posts of on ReV about people who get rear ended and the car takes off (Hit and Run). A person makes a mistake but instead of taking responsibility the take off/try to get out out it....I hope the OP never gets hit in his car then has the person who hit him use there wit/knowledge to avoid taking responsibility...Some people might not think its the same thing but not taking responsibility for your actions starts with small things.....
tell us how you really feel tho.

Trial by Decl. Hope he won't respond.
If he does and you lose, request an appeal. (You have to show in person when granted)
If cop shows up to the court date, request traffic school and get it over with.

Tonight, I got tailgated by a cop for 5 miles with his brights on. He ended up pulling me over and giving me a ticket for going 75. I felt like screaming at him because I was just trying to not get run off the road and it really sucks

you should have slammed on the brakes and had him rear end you then sued the crap out of him , but seriously I've had that happen a few times i just try to pull over and write the guys plate down so i can give it to my uncle who has been life long friends with the police chief

That's bs. I would have started filming and asked the cop for a blank ticket to write him up for tailgating and illegally using the high beams.

Your intelligence has been growing exponentially. I am impressed. Has your old lady gone back to the Tuesday shift at the strip club to help pay for your ITT Tech education? Maybe you can help your friend as he obviously has nothing in the way of writing ability.

Defensive driving is your best bet. Stays off insurance and your driving record(at least the one that the public sees). When i was younger, i was speeding 90 in a 45(lol). it was an exit ramp at 6am with no one else on the road. I took defensive driving, wrote a 1500 word essay on causes of traffic fatalities and only paid court fees of $150. BAM! dismissed. But i was "an exemplary citizen" at the ripe age of 17 and they were willing to work with me.

                          fight in court.

how did you get clocked? what instrument was used to determine your speed? question the calibration (when and who did it) request for documentations from the police officer. create reasonable doubt that equipment may or may not be accurate.

i've fought several speeding tickets here in california and i've won each time.

also you can pray that the police officer don't show up on your court hearing, coz then case dismissed.
