Is that some sort of entrapment?

Actually all of these questions are none of there business. If a cop asks you these questions you do not need to answer.

And technically per law, if a police officer is taking radar they need to be visible, and have there marker lights on, but as we all know this is never the case

You have to have decent looking tits or it doesnt work.

You disobeyed the law and got caught. I'm so tired of seeing these threads. Cops can do what ever they want. Why? Becuase they are cops duh! They are the authority, They can sit how ever they want in the road, ask you questions on just probable cause and a lot more, and you trying to fight and complain about how its not fair won't change a thing. Who is a court gonna believe? You or a cop?

While this is true, and you are correct that you do not need to answer, it might help to understand WHY they ask them.

As great at lying as we think we all are, under pressure we fail pretty hard core, and we fail even more so if someone trained is the one asking questions. An example of this would be the airport security in Israel. Before entering the airport a guard asks you who you are, where you are going, why you are going there. They are looking for any signs that things may not be quite right. Part of this is to get you on another charge, part of it is self protection. When a cop pulls someone over in the middle of the night, they do not know yet if you are an absentminded civilian, or someone that just committed a murder. The sooner they can figure out how to handle you, the safer they are.

So while questions need not be answered, if the truth is easy and legal, let the cop be at ease and play along is my motto. It's also why when I get pulled over I put both my hands high on the steering wheel. If however he's bored stupid and asks if he can rip apart my car, I will decline and ask for a warrant.

Also, if a cop pegs you doing 55 in a 45, and you answer the question "How fast were you going" by saying "58", guess which number will be on the ticket? It doesn't matter if you were really going 43, an admission of guilt is as good in this case as it is walking into a police station and saying you sell cocaine.

lol, obviously you haven't read through this thread or you didn't understand what was written throughout the thread.

This thread is not about complaining and trying to get out of the ticket. I am not saying that I did not disobey the law and that I did not speed. And I agree with you that cops can do whatever the hell they want, legal or not.

This thread was intended to discuss the politics of traffic laws and what they mean.

So, stop complaining about speeding ticket threads like these and go look at another thread.

Actually, see my post earlier up on a similar story, but with a few key differences. Cops record the act, they do not dictate punishment. We are discussing (in part) the punishment for this act, not whether the act was committed. The OP hasn't said, but what if she was fined $5000 dollars for this act, would we find this fair? Question of a law being broken is not in dispute here, only the severity of the punishment compared to the crime and similar crimes. Our diverse justice system recognizes levels of punishment for different crimes. We (in the US) do not live in a black and white completely free or life in prison system. Even things like causing the death of another human being have many factors taken into account, because the law says it's wrong, and the justice system dictates the punishment.

If the fine was $5000 dollars, I'd say OP should take her day in court. If the fine is $50 I'd say she'd get laughed out of court if she showed up.

Fine is $260. Not too bad, but fun to discuss.

Yep, not too bad. FYI My court fee was $100. Even if a judge cuts the ticket in half (which they sometimes will) you're probably not saving enough to make it worth your while.

You want one more thing to toss into the discussion? Paying money is not meant as a pay to compensate someone for the crime, right? It's not like you did damage, and now you need to pay for the damages. No, paying for a crime using money is meant as a deterrent, simple as that. So why then do millionaires and minimum wage earners get fined the same amount? For one, it's a huge financial burden, for the other, they're likely losing more money in time being pulled over than in the cost of the ticket. If taking money from someone is supposed to be punishment, it should be a percentage of income.

                            There, chew on that! :)

(this is all for the sake of argument. Justice systems have to draw a line between serving some good, being just, but also not being a burden. Having 10 million written laws might be more fair, but it's also more burdensome for the system and the individual. That's why we have Judge's in the first place, not just cops)

You don't HAVE to speed. If you can't afford a ticket, drive the speed limit. This is an instance where you bring the fines, etc upon yourself. It doesn't become a burden until you decide it's worth the risk to get where you're going 5 seconds sooner.

You've got to pay to play. If you want to waste money on fines/fees/court costs/DMV bullshit, speed.

I for one do not like having anything to do with the justice system/government, therefore I don't speed.

How did you get a ticket in the kitchen? Oh, wait...you left your place. jk

Your idea of going that fast 75ish in a 55 is asking for a ticket. Best I go is 7mph over at anytime on known infected areas.

They are the traffic enforcers, I have seen them set up in some weird ways. Best one I have seen so far a Policeman is standing on an over head bridge is tagging speeders. Then a cruiser is waiting on the shoulder around the bend. Had three cruisers lined up nailing people all weekend.

So yes, I have seen them sit where ever they please and pull over people breaking the law. Like said before; pay the ticket and slow down.
