The dilemma: Finish or sell

The wife has a new position, which is forcing us to move to Dallas at the end of the month. I started a S52 swap in the M3, with a major help from a buddy of mine. With the sudden move, I probably will not be able to finish it by the time we have to move. I have learned to major things in this project.

1. Always double the amount you think you are going to spend on a swap
2. Never buy a roller that has all ready been swapped. It was a hack job, that cost of more time than was expected.

I thought about selling it and just using the money to purchase a house. That would really please the wife. Or just finishing it and using it as a daily. Right now everything is buttoned up, just missing seats and exhaust. This is my only car right now.

Bottom line: What is the market value of a unfinished E30 M3 S52? Should I just finish it in the time have left and just finish the kinks out in Dallas?

Depends on your financial situation. Will you be able to afford to keep it and finish? Do you have enough otherwise to put money down on a house if you finish it?

I'd take the house and keep the car until I was able to finish it.

Just seats and exhaust? Sounds like it's practically done. Finish it. Once finished, then decide if it would be better to sell it to help pay for a house, or keep it as a daily.

finish it, you'll get far more money than the cost of the seats and the exhaust will set you back. without pics i cant give you a price. but i've seen $12-15k, given that paint and body are in good shape.

Get it in as good a shape as you can to sell it for as high as you can to make your wife happy with some house money. There will always be cars around to play with.

Finish car is my opinion, but seriously talk with the lady honestly about it. Explain why a roller isn't worth squat in comparison to a running car.
