Not only that but they were far more crude and critical than a show that relies on advertising money could be. Top Gear (BBC) is funded by taxes instead of commercials.
A US version of Top Gear? Great....another rehashing of someone elses idea (much like sequels to crappy movies). I doubt 'our' version of this show will be as good as the original found on BBC telly. For one, think of the kinds of cars they will be testing....I doubt you will be seeing any phenomenal cars such as the Pagoni Zonda F or Atom Areil. I'm envisioning this show as something of a cross between Autoweek Mag's TV show and Speed TVs Test Drive program testing cars from our backyard....many which are no match to their European counterparts. And the chosen location: Mojave desert....great 'American' background.....miles of dust, weeds, and nothingness. I proper road course track would be better. I suppose it could be a NIMBY thing.
Another thing that bugs me is how they edited the BBC broadcast so as not to offend the American viewers with (what I find to be) humorous remarks about our culture and lifestyle. Political correctness rearing its ugly head again. We can poke fun at everyone else out there but we can't seem to handle what we dish out sometimes.

WTF does that have to do with TOP Gear ?? And a 2.5 year old thread on top of that ??
Fucking horseshit. I won't watch it. It'll be just another Car & Driver TV, Horsepower TV, Motorweek, all fucking gay.
I find it hard to believe that you won't like a cheap watered down knock-off version of a great Euro program when all the parts on your car are cheap watered down knock-off's of great Euro parts . Zing ! :p
