my car makes a lot of valve noise, but i haven't heard it in awhile... the shitty exhaust is deafening.

And i found out last night that my front left foglight isn't working and neither is my 3rd brake light :(

The most common complaint I have heard about German cars from "the others" are about electrical problems, the taillights in particular. Claiming that one of the lights is out. But little do they know, most German cars are equipped with "rear fog lights". And they usually light up one rear taillight with a higher wattage bulb than the rest of the running lights. But then again, my dads E34 brake lights are pretty problematic at times.

Electronics are the achilles heel of German cars from what Ive seen. And they've been far worse since the continued overload of the electronics of the cars of nowadays. The electronics are WAY overloaded to handle everything that they want the car to do.

I have an issue with lifter noise in my engine. There's nothing wrong, I just think the valvetrain is overbearingly noisy compared to other cars...

Blah, I didn't read it all, but here's a few points:

I'll bet my life our e30's hold up better than a scion will after 200k. Not saying Toyota is bad, but a scion is just kinda low on the scale of cars to be making fun of others.

Also, that is the ugliest fkn mini truck I have ever seen, and I've seen some REALLY crappy ones. Hilux bumper? maybe they're just high. Funny how all the people who "know the most" always drive the biggest pieces of crap.

Last thursday I was out and about and he told me that my car was nice... "for a wankermobile old Euro pussbox".

I then asked him when Cletus The Slackjawed Yokel wants his "truck" back.

He is still coming up with a reply.

Judging by the fact that over the past 3 months i've TRIED to kill my e30 and its take the beating with a stride... yeah.

The cooling systems in BMW seem to be another weak spot. I just hear lots of stories of overheating, the cause seems to range from everything; the water pump, fan, thermostat, hoses etc

While your comments are sort of true, that all stems back to lack of maintainance. When one maintains a car you find and correct failing parts prior to them actually failing.

Sure, the Scion might be cheap, but Toyotas are dead reliable cars. The tolerances in the engines are pretty tight; for example the rods are balanced within one or two grams of each other. That is the entire point of the Scion marque--inexpensive, sporty vehicles that have Toyota reliability.

Point is, BMWs are going to require more maintenance than the more reliable Japanese imports. That is the price you pay for being able to feel what the front wheels are doing. :D

Most people who bag on BMW are suffering from sour grapes. They want to make themselves feel better about the decision they made buying a Scion. Those who can live with slightly idiosyncratic cars will choose BMW. Those who need help changing a flat tire, yet are pros at installing Wal-Mart tint can go ahead and buy a Scion.

Almost ironically, none of the 6 e-30s my family has been through have leaked oil.... and they all had over 100k miles with 3 having over 200k miles. My sisters honda civic (200k) goes through nearly a quart per 1000 miles at times. We think its the rear main seal, but then again there is some oily stuff on the back of the car from the exhaust.... and sometimes the car will go 5000 miles and not leak a drop. wtf

japs and germans are long lost cousins you know.... thats why hitler allied with them in ww2
