If the pitch is different you won't be able to put them on unless you cross thread the shit out of them. If that's what happened then the dude who put on the wheels is "so fucking stupid" as the late Kim Jong-Il so eloquently put it.

Depending on the pitch they will thread without cross threading but they will sit on the edge of the thread. Yes he should have realized regardless.

There is no possible scenario that makes him not a dumb ass.

My guess is they were 14mm nuts with the same thread pitch as his 12mm studs. So they fit on, kind of, but obviously weren't tight. How you would not notice that, I don't know.

              +1

Since the nut will still go on, once it bottoms out it will tighten, how much torque it can hold is another story. If he was able to torque them it was likely deforming the thread peaks, so as soon as the wheel got loaded up all the thread peaks sheared off.

I'd rather just get legit adapters if I can.

The issue with adapters is they are at least 15mm thick, so you have to find wheels with the correct offset to run adapters.

I would never track fill and drills, but DD status is perfectly fine. There are some AMAZING shops that do perfect fills/drills. I would NEVER run just drills. Also against adapters being used for track duty.

Wait, what? Track conditions are probably going to have higher static loads but much, much lower dynamic loads than street driving. And even then, much much less often. I'd do both or neither. Doing one or the other seems weird to me.
