every once in a while I have had the urge to make a rally car out of an old volvo to trash through the wilderness. The new ones line the suburban streets where I live. I suppose if there was a forum like this in 1985 there would be people talking about e30's that way too. Anywho the best volvos in my opinion are the old amazon's. Grassroots did a buildup a couple years ago and I know for sure there some serious resto ones down in corvallis. Heres a pic of the GRM one:

Classic Motorsports did a similar themed build up with a 142 here:

I figured I'd get narrow minded responses such as these.

Hey now! I see the potetial these cars have, but you can't deny the strong resemblence throughout the pillar area between the two cars. I would much rather have a v70R, Brembo brakes, 300HP, and real all wheel drive.

i would like to get a volvo...they do have lots of potential. they remind me of saab's. not really recognized but very good cars. then with proper tuning, gorgeous rockets.

There is no S60 twin turbo, and the 850R was a single turbo.

Sorry, I wasn't aware that expressing my very reasonable opinion of the car was considered narrow minded.

If that was a honda we would laugh at it. For some reason the fact that it's a volvo makes it OK to be on 19" rims, have a hatch-wing, and be painted teal.

I know that Volvo is working some some superVolvos. One of the local CCA members is a test engineer for them and for the past year he has had 2 400AWHP mules through his hands.

They changed their styling and I think they are finally ready to drive the last nail in the coffin of their safe and pratical (boring) image.
                            Im now E30less.

In the early 90's I seriously considered buying a 740 wagon and putting a Mustang V8 in it. There is a company in Connecticut (Ross Converse I think) that made (makes?) a kit to make it easy.

*EDIT* they are still doing it

Those look like 18's and the fact that they are BBS CH's gives them credibility, hatch wings are very functional, and I personally like the paint but I can see where you are coming from.
