    Possible Licence Suspention

I got a letter in the mail today telling me that I have a appointment with the Ministry of Transportation and that due to the number of tickets I have my Licence is under review and could be suspended for a year.

The question that will be going through my mind until Feb 8th?

"Why do deserve to keep your Licence?"

My crime? 3 speeding tickets for 20 km/h over (equivolant of 12.5 mph) in the last 2 years. And yes, each time I was only 20 km/h over.

Any pointers for my interview? No sense tugging at the old heart strings, those MoT workers are cold, can't even renew your licence without being treated like dirt.

I doubt you will loose your licence. I know in California it takes alot of points to get your licence suspended. My friend has somthing like 7 in two years and he just got another one and he still has it. Unless your laws are more strict than california then you might loose it but i doubt it.

In Canada, you get an automatic interview when you hit 9 points, and unfortunatly 20km/h over the limit gives you 3 points.

I figured these interviews were just to put the fear in ya, but a friend just lost his licence for a year.....which was probably a blessing for him since he drives a Kia. He has a 5 minute walk to work so I think that was his misfortune, didn't have much to lose in their eyes.

I hope the fact that I am now married, 25, and have a job that requires I have a car will work in my favor.

Trust me, it crossed my mind. I'm sure the kid would love that story when he grows up: "Jack, you know how we always said that 'you were born to drive'.....we may have left a few words out there, like 'allow', 'daddy', and 'to'"

First learn how to spell suspension.

Next, just do all the regular old things.
Dress nicely when you show up and bring whatever evidence you have. Do you need to drive for school/job??

Those are actually the same rules for Illinois if you are under 21.

BTW, the correct spellings are "license suspension"

Wrong. Its 4 in 18 months, 6 in 24 months and 8 in 32 months, I believe. I know about the 4 in 18 months though. And 2-point violations (which would put you half way there) arent that outside the realm of possibility if you have a dick cop who wants to put you down for lets say...exhibition of speed (2 points) AND participating in a speed contest (another two points) in the same tickets. Or if you werent racing with another car they can charge you with reckless driving (2 points as well) along with the exhibition of speed, and there my friend, you have a minimum 6 month suspension from the DMV regardless of what the courts say (which will likely only suspende it for 1-4 months depending on your previous record). Lets not even get into the DUI (2 points), or any other myriad of 2 point violations that you can get without even knowing. After your 2nd point, the DMV sends a letter warning you that youre starting to tread on thin ice.

Ask me how I know all this.

Well since we're all pretending to be grade 4 spelling bee champs, up here in canada it is in fact "LICENCE", phonetically pronounced Bite-Me' j/k ha!

my bad on "suspension" though bad Aytah

Sorry to have offended your honour, mate.

Seriously, we have no clue here South of the Border. Your rules are much different. MoT? Sounds like the place where you get a K-Reg and a Tax Disc from some Limey bastard named Nigel.

                          Ha! Nice.

No offence, just that lovable canadian humour coming through.

It may not turn into March of the Penguins when you cross that border, but its definitely a different world.
