Actually, if you look it up, it's not guibo nor giubo, it's a

UNIVERSAL JOINT - LK=78MM/D=110MM (Auto Trans.)
    or
    UNIVERSAL JOINT - LK=78MM/D=110MM
    which made me laugh.

the nylon lock nuts should be replaced as well. They are technically only one time use and can come undone if reused.
Carroll Smith, author of "Prepare to Win" disagreed with you.
He's dead, now, sadly. He died of old age, not driveshaft failure.

have seen it many times myself, I remember the early disc(02 I think that had a metal strap around them) people would take the strap off before installing them.. Oops hey this does fit .

GRRRR OMG yet another one installed backwards.

When I replaced it yesterday, in a rush, the only brand we could get was Dorman. There are no arrows marks on it, so one must look at the old one to compare, when putting it in.

so i just changed drive shaft and didn't know this about guibo so I checked and I had installed it right. I just looked at the design and figured it would work best the way I put it in and it was the right way. yay for my college edumacation

It had nothing to do with where the nuts are and everything to do with the arrows needing to be pointing to the flange, not away from it.

You can also tell by which parts of the giubo are reinforced.
Seems too easy to miss, but I guess its too easy to overlook also.
Sticky in the Driveline section I suppose?
I like to read the pictures! <joking> . In all seriousness its good to have a reminder about how to do it the correct way.

do not just replace the bearing. get the whole housing, since the rubber wears out too. kinda like doing a timing belt w/out doing a water pump. - the older part will fail you just after doing it.
Good call Cab! Will go with that rationale!

there is no way to get a torque wrench in then when installing. so i go as tight as i can with 2 17mm wrenches.

    truth!
stop spitting hairs. the arrows all point towards the flanges. if they are installed any other way, it's installed wrong period.

Okay, I think it's time for final clarification; I haven't changed a guibo in a while so my information, while correct, isnt entirely clarified

When dealing with what makes initial contact (what is making contact with the Guibo, the flange, or the bolt head/nut)
The arrows on the guibo always point to contact on a FLANGE
It should never point to contact on a NUT

I think that covers all bases; Eric, you can go ahead and requote this if you'd like
