this haha. tennessee is 25 yrs too so i will get antique plates next year! but i brought her from rust-free cali..

also curious how much trouble you could get in for driving the car every day? I can't really see anything happening, i only drive the e30 about 7000 miles a year anyway.

Who cares, my GA tax on the E30 is $22 but it did just pass it's last emissions test ever! Now that is something to celibate.

Antique Motor Vehicles. Per Tennessee Code Ann. § 55-4-111, a person may register a vehicle as an “antique motor vehicle”
providing that certain requirements are satisfied. The vehicle:
                    • Must be a motor vehicle over twenty-five (25) years old and have a non-modified engine and body,
                    • Can be used for participation in, or transportation to and from, club activities, exhibits, tours, parades, and similar
                    uses as a collector’s item,
                    • Can only be used for general transportation on Saturday and Sunday, and
                    • Can be used on any day for the purpose of selling, vehicle testing, or obtaining repairs to or doing maintenance on the
                    vehicle.

Violations. Any person violating the provisions of Tennessee Code Ann. 55-4-111 will be restricted from participating in Tennessee Antique Motor Vehicle plate program for five (5) years from the date of the violation, will be asked to surrender the license plate and will be required to pay the full vehicle registration price for operating the vehicle. An example of a violation would be operating the vehicle for general transportation purposes on a day other than Saturday or Sunday.

In IL they have some language in there about winter and have a mileage limit. I thought about doing it but getting regular plates seemed like less of a hassle long term. Plus, my plates were free last year anyways.

considering that regular registration isnt that damn expensive ($90/year) and there are a bunch of restrictions, this never made sense to me unless you want special plates. every state is different, though.

It makes far more sense for weekend/toy cars. I paid $35 for the plate on Klaus, now I'm done forever. I wouldn't risk putting the plate on a DD.
