    A way to stop scamming.

With all the scamming lately on here, i think it would be a good idea to have a piece of paper with your username and the date in the picture of the item your selling. This would be a big help to a lot of people knowing when and who the picture was taken by. Or maybe just the noobies should do this till they reach 100 posts. I know some other forums and websites that use this too, so i think it would be good on r3v.

Anyone else think this is a good idea or no?

That's already been done over on Edition38 forums.
It is a very good idea, as then it has to be the origional item with date.

I don't know what the answer is, though I don't think post count is it. IMO the time period is a better solution, but I don't think it's much of a deterrent either. If someone has to be a forum member for 30/60/90/whatever number of days before they can sell, why would they simply not just plan for that?

I think part of the problem is that it's too easy to get a (fake/temporary) PayPal account.

Hopefully once James et al get around to upgrading the vBull software for this forum we can implement the iTrader system. It's a start.

I like it. I will say though there are a lot of people on here who have been here forever but don't post much. There are also numerous instances of people with high post counts scamming (or otherwise being a shitty seller) and disappearing. Post count is by no means a measure of one's trustworthiness or character. If this is done it needs to be a blanket thing. There is also the feedback section which helps tremendously.

The "Feedback" section only works if people actually POST in there after a transaction.
I've sold loads on here, all satisfied buyers, but only a few could be bothered to leave me feedback.
I even have a Feedback link in my sig.

Its a good idea, but I see it being a problem for people who have taken pictures of their things a while ago. Maybe every for sale ad should come with a warning to not send money as gift.

Feedback is good although I doubt many people check it before doing a deal. While a copy of todays headlines may show someone does indeed have an article in their possession, like Matt says, it doesnt make you an fair and/or honest seller.

I dont know how technically feasible it is but I like the idea of a little box at the bottom of everyone's sig where a reader can click "I met this forum member" and voila..your name shows up at the bottom of their sig...or at least a link that says "check this sellers feedback"

Its a good idea, but whats going to stop someone from taking a picture of a part with their username next to it and not ship the item to the buyer.

Well recently ive see atleast 2 postings with pictures off the internet and they have been banned now becasue they were scammers and people dont really do their research. So this would save a lot of people from getting scammed.

This is the the biggest part of the problem. I've seen far too many questions asked lately on this forum that could have been easily answered with five minutes or less of looking.

I can't remember who it was, but someone in the FS section called someone out for being a scammer a day or two ago by googling the paypal address they were given.

I think its more about due diligence on the buyers part. If you don't see any feedback from your searches, pay the PP fee or deal with it if the deal falls through.
