    E30 decisions.

As some of you now i am currently taking a year abroad.. in france. I have long wanted to do this for many reasons, one being to own some uber cool euro e30. Well i ended up with my 324td, definetly euro, but fucking mediocre at best. I've done much to this car to make it drive/handle/look better (staying within EU norms for the moment.)

Last night i purchased a 4 door mtech2 kit for it at a very good price.

Now with this in mind i have several possibilites when coming back to the US with several advantages/disadvantges.

    1. Keep my touring put a new hood and fenders and mtech2 on it, get it resprayed and send it home (probably through canada)

Advantages: No surprises i know the car well, great MPG, overall good condition, no rust)
Disavantages: Exporting will be trickey, buying parts in america for the the diesel will be a complete PITA (even though some 524td parts work) and lastly diesel is hard to come by in america.

    2. sell my 324td touring and get a 325i touring (this one is full option, leather, abs, power windows, eibach springs, sport leather seats, sport recaro seats as an extra) AC shintzer wheels (16" IIRC) and again put the body kit on it and ship it home.

    (not actually it, but similar)
Advantages: trick ass car. looks great, performs great, good condition, recent respray, great bang for the buck
Disadvantages: It's a 1993, which will probably not help me in getting a title transfer or even using the title from another car+swapping vins. I do not know the history of the car either.. and i'd have to buy it, pay insurance on it and all that jazz until i leave (700 euro just in tax!!!)

    3. buy my buddies late model 325ic automatic when i come home.

Advantages It's nice local clean ride
Disadvantages its a chick car and an auto.

    4. 25+ year old car I could buy a 1980's BMW e28/e24 3.0cs, 2002 and bring it home no problem.

    What do you guys think??

    Thanks
    Julien

      either 1 or 2.
i would prefer 2 cause it won't be hard to find parts.
but 1 you already know the car and diesel is better with milage.

I'd go with option 4. Get something that is hard as hell to find in the US. Euro 3.0 would be cool as hell. My brother lives in Italy, and I'm thinking about having him bring me back an old Alfa. Good luck with whatever you choose.

whatever you do, dont even waste your time on shipping an E30 to the states!!!! what a waste of money! by the time you would get it, I am positive it would cost you at least 8000 dollars. Get a 25yr or older car if you really want to ship something. for that money, get a container and ship about 20 E30s worth of parts over and make some money. roll what you got, and dump it when you leave. You dont even want to know how many soldiers I've come across that dumped a fist full of cash in a euro car, just to realize they arent getting it to the states, and sell it for nothing when its time to go.

"Having won more road races than any other model in history, the E30 M3 is considered by many to be the world's most successful road race car." - Simply put, E30s kick ass.
