some asshole keyed one of my 325is the same day i got it. I was late to work so i just parked and apparently the bar next door likes to do valet parking there after 9. some people are just little shits..

The video doesn't show much. Hooded person walking by the car. No detail at all. He has quite a few claims with his company already with a tarnished driving history so they hate him already. I agree, it should be covered no matter what. He definitely has comprehensive, no doubt about that. Shitty situation, he's going to keep pressing his insurance.

On a positive note, that is one of the less destructive "key jobs" I've seen. Not like it helps with the agony much, but at least the scratch doesn't go all the way across the door through the midline of the car. I'd be tempted to try a good cut and polish before painting although its hard to tell if that will work from the pictures. I got a really nasty scratch like the one in the picture on my right rear door from what I suspect to be the handle of a yard machine. The only way I knew it wasn't an intentional key scratch was because of the slight dent in the door along the scratch and the fact that someone was aerating a lawn right next to the car. Could this be an accident or the surveillance footage makes that impossible?

Keep pushing the insurance company or get an attorney and file a "bad faith" action against the insurance company. I'm sure just the mention of it will get them to pay out. Sounds really bizarre unless there's some history we're not privy to.

I had my window busted out on a date before when I was out of town in high school and had to drive with it smashed out for 45 minutes on the freeway in the winter....that being said I had to take it out of pocket bc my dad owned my car at the time and luckily my window had tint on it or glass would have been all over my car even more than it was. WE had to find a window in a junk yard....I hate people fucking with other people's car's sorry to hear that man.
