New Tachometer shows 70mph at 4100+ RPM, problem?

I just install a new cluster and all gauges are working expect that the Tachometer is like 3500+ RPM at 70mph and 4100+ RPM at 80mph...what is my problem? It is a 7000 RPM Tach and it's from a 325i (fit my car)...

Do you drive a 318? Or is it the 325iC we are talking about?

It sounds like that cluster has a 4-cylinder coding plug.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

That's what I was getting at.

Should be at the bottom of the cluster in between the temp and tach gauges.

If that's the case, where to get the 6-cylinder coding plug? If my old Tach is showing "normal/correct" RPM, can I take that the old one and put it in the new one?

How much and where to get a new one?

Yup, keep the original coding plug associated with you motor/ecm. I have some spares around if you need one, from many different E30's. PM me tho

BTW, anyone have picture of the plug and location?

325i only doing 80mph at 4.1k? What kind of diff is that with?

My 318is is just over 90mph at 4k..
