Why they cannot ship items to USA? Any insights. (i bid on an item;then it pop a message saying that the item can not be shipped to USA)
It is just a steering wheel!!!
Most don't want the hassle of dealing with customs shipping. Takes a significant time some times to clear US customs and most buyers get nervous and file a paypal dispute or a cc dispute and they lose the item if shipped and money.
George, you'd be amazed at how many were most likely squished 15 years ago or so. It wasn't until forums came more into life that parts moved so free vs the old mail order days. The mid 90 with usenet boards parts were moving but not nearly as much.
From reading a while back,, ebay is not responsible for any items you don"t receive or receive damaged/broken. Even if it is not accurate like you bought a steering wheel and you receive a book that says "you got burned" :( When buying from other ebay country's.
But they had a policy update not to long ago, not sure if they have changed that. But it is always good to be informed.
I have bought a few items before with one incident. The seller told me he sent the item but did not want to provide tracking number. I contacted paypal and they asked him and replied with "its been shipped". But still did not want to give me or paypal tracking number.. Never got the item but fortunately I got my money back in that time.
He is still there selling bmw parts and other good shit. But be carefull guys.
i purchased an alpina spoiler from ebay de a couple years ago. the seller went awol and i never received it. ebay sent me a refund including shipping. about two months after this, the seller sent me a message saying that his parents died in a car accident and he had been in austrailia all this time. he shipped the spoiler even after ebay paid me for it. basically, i ended up with the part on ebay's dime. i went to a lot of effort to change the seller's feedback but was unable to do so. i also put a bit of time into trying to pay back ebay. never had any success with either. i know ebay is a conglomerate but i looked at it as a karma kind of thing.
so, to respond to go army's post above, i don't think ebay denying responsibility for international shipments is true.
Thats how everyone else feels when US sellers don't ship outside the US...

you know what a pain in the ass it is to get parts sent over here for my 55 Chevy Bel Air????
Here in Germany there are a lot of different companies that will come to your house and pick up items, but to the U.S., you must use fed ex,UPS, or DHL and bring the crap there - the first 2 suck here and DHL is expensive.
I never understood the laziness, the items will sell for more if international bidding is welcome.
Thanks guys! I will try to contact the seller and see what happen.
By the way. is there any member from r3vlimitec that is in Germany that could do this service for a fee?
If the seller is not willing to ship here, I can help you out. PM me the item #, and the max amount you're willing to pay for it. I can have it shipped to my place in Nbg, and then to you.

I've bought lots of parts on german ebay. all you have to do is ask nicely if they will ship to the USA. Most do, but if they don't they'll usually ignore you.
haven't had any problems - most expensive item was over $900, big and heavy.
