born and raised in california, and maybe because im a californian, but i wouldnt live anywhere else but california. Maybe oregon or washington, but you cant beat californias weather. Expensive though in comparison to lots of other states, but well worth it imosigpicComment

Yea I know the grass isn't always greener on the other side but I've been playing on this side long enough I figured it's time for something newIG- nv_e30Comment

About the smog thing, it's to the point where everyone and their mom "knows a guy" and ANYTHING can get smogged for $140.
I'd go Oregon or Washington. I have been living in WA for 8 months ow and really dig it. Way more cars then CA, American, Import, and Euro. I think Ill end up here for good in a year or two.sigpic

This is a well-kept secret I think as far as great places to live. NWA is home of the Wal-Mart headquarters as well as Tyson Foods, Hudson Shipping Industries and numerous other corporate offices. This area is very unique from any other part of Arkansas because the redneck jokes are all true once you get out about an hour in any direction. But in NWA there are thousands of people who have come from California, Utah, and all around the US to set up offices close to Wal-Mart HQ. Because of that the area is very rich in entertainment, restaurants, and natural resources. It caters to the tastes of a more sophisticated community.
Crystal Bridges Museum, funded by Alice Walton contains world-renown exhibits and is located in Bentonville, AR.
If you like sports, you're close to the U of A and the Razorback football season is awesome for tailgating. You really feel part of a community cheering for the hogs.
If you're into the outdoors, Arkansas is the Natural State, they have lakes, rivers, trails, anything you'd want except for substantial snow.
Affordable housing. Out here in UT and any of the desert states, your entry level and upgrade homes are all stucco. The cheapest form of construction except maybe vinyl siding. In AR, the entry level homes are brick. And if your budget is more in the $250s, you get a 2-3 story brick house which you will never find anywhere in AZ, NM, UT, CA.
I grew up in NWA and my goal is to head back that direction as the place where I'll raise my family. I'm waiting a few years for the construction industry to pick up a little otherwise I'd be there now.sigpicComment

Dallas/Ft.Worth. No state income taxes. Jobs. Lots to do. Better looking women then Arkansas. Large car community.
Louisiana, just no. no. no. no.Comment

I'm looking to move out west I'm thinking Arizona or California I thought I'd ask if anyone can recommend a good place that I wouldn't have to worry about taking a wrong turn and end up in the wrong "hood" if you know what I mean
I hear its really nice out there but no-one has really told me a good area
Anyone live around Tempe or Gilbert Arizona?
Thanks for any input
California is a no-brainer in comparison.
Lots of good places in San Diego. If you're an engineer, there are a lot of companies there - though I am unsure what the hiring market is like.
OR and WA would be great places too.2011 1M Alpine white/black
