Towing a "new to you" car home

I need some help with this. I found an e28 that needs some minor work to be road worthy, but it can't be driven right now because it needs the brakes freshened up, new tires, and the exhaust is off the car. My question to you guys, is how does one who does not have a truck and trailer get a car home at a reasonable price? I figured that odds are someone on here has experienced the same thing and has some advice I could use. Looked at uhaul, but for 1.00/mile, that's very expensive. The car needs to go from Attleboro, MA up to Lisbon, ME. Anyone got any ideas or have some advice that worked for them? Or, if anyone in NE wants to make some money, let me know. ;) I want to get this done Friday!

Get a AAA Premier membership for $124 a year, it has 200 miles free towing. Not sure how long it takes to join or if they would let you use it 2 days after you got it.

I know there's a three day (72 hour) wait when upgrading from Basic to Premier.

I Tow for AAA, that is a great option. The only thing is there has to be a current tag on the car, so just borrow a tag off your current car and slap it on there and they can't say anything.

Actually, very expensive is what a towing company would charge you to flatbed it. Likely $4/mile or more.

You might try a vehicle transport service. They may do it for a decent rate, especially if they already have a trip planned between those places and have an open slot.

Find a friend with some free time and a truck, offer up some beer and gas money, and rent a tow dolley from uhaul for about $50 and just pull the driveshaft. Had to tow my car 40 miles one time and that did the trick pretty easily.

I brought an E34 home through twisty mountain roads on a flatbed trailer behind my '88 Astro...no worries, but not sure I would recommend.

Budget wants .79/ mile. Waiting on a call back. They have a location in Attleboro, and 20min from my house. Might be my best bet

Do the tires hold air and is there anything mechanically wrong preventing it from driving under it's own power?

If you call AAA be sure to act like the car broke down.

No. It runs and drives. It has no exhaust, and the owner states that it needs new tires and that some brake work needs to be done cause its been sitting a while. The brakes WORK, but you know how they get after sitting for a bit.
