I predict this car will be the equivalent of an e30 in 20 years. My 2004 e46 isn't as refined when it comes to handling.
BMW claims the 1 series is the spiritual successor to the 2002 but I believe it's a modern day E30 without a sedan option. It really is a fun and nimble car to drive. I drove a co-worker's with a juice box and the power delivery is nice and smooth!

For me, after the E39M and E46M I don't have any interest in any late model BMW except the 1M, which I still would consider owning.

BMW doesn't care what you think (which is the problem, I admit).

And, honestly, everything they've put on the road in the past few years has been light years better than an E30. My 335is is in every single way better than every non-M E30 I've owned in the past 20 years.

6er grand coupe? Please, it's the best new car on the market right now. I wish I could afford one.

I have to say, as much as I love Wing Zero, I love Epyon more. Probably my first favorite.

Only BMW would make up stupid rules and break them with stupid cars.
seems to be that odd numbers will be sedan based and even numbers will be coupe based.

3-series sedan and GT, 5-series sedan and GT, 7-series sedan and...

2-series coupe (apparently a rebadging of the current 1-series) and its variants, 4-series coupe and gran coupe, 6-series coupe and gran coupe.

that's my guess anyway. at least in the US market.

Why would I want to own a car with a quarter million miles?

Gran coupe is such a crock of shit though. It's a sedan. 6 gran coupe is a 5. If you want a 4 door 6, you get a 5. Simple. They need to quit making rules then breaking them.

well, traditionally BMWs with lots of miles weren't total piles of shit, but now they're total piles of shit by 100k. *shrugs*

I sure as hell wouldn't want to own a modern BMW with that many miles..

I guess by your logic every older BMW that still looks and runs like new should be sent to the scrap heap because it has a lot of miles, but we should all want a newer BMW that's falling apart with 75k miles because it's just better. :p

Not exactly, but I'm also not one to keep a car for decades unless it has a special value or pedigree or unless it is something other than a daily driver.

I'll never sell my M3, but I unloaded an 87 325is DD as soon as I could get something better.

Different strokes. I think BMW has always and continues to make great cars, but the context in which that greatness is judged has changed.
