My wife has a Focus TDCi mk2.5 Euro version and its great to drive. It sips fuel like a small car, but it whips up some good power when needed. At 2.0, I think it can match an N/A gas engine with a 3.0 displacement. We've had it for 4 years now. The Focus TDCi will leave my m20b25 eating dust any day whether its a drag race or a long run, and will cover a farther distance too. E30 does 12mpg city, while the Focus does 28mpg. On the highway, E30: 19mpg; TDCi: 47mpg. Both are A/T, E30 has an EH while Focus has DSG. I like both cars a lot. Hate the plastic panels on the Focus though. They're so cheap, everything is plastic and squeaks like crazy. Even the bulb sockets are so cheap, they're more brittle than BMW 25 year old ones.
