A buddy of mine wants it. I told him he's better off starting with something else cause this needs a lot of work. Also, its a rust free body and I would hate to see it go to the crusher.

omfg. dude. not even worth it for $250 unless you intend on parting it out.

You guys really don't think its worth it for a rust free body? I've known my friend since the 8th grade and were pretty much like brothers...we just live in different states (FL and NY). I have a parts car and I have a hood, windshield, door handle, trims, window switches, and lot of misc crap it needs. I even have a mint condition vert rear seat and my buddy will be using the comfort seats out of my parts car until he gets the sport seats recovered.

We would need to redo the engine and tranny. I just overhauled my G260 and don't think that it's a problem for me. I also have a real good friend in town that I gave the bottom end of the engine from my parts car that will be helping rebuild the engine.

The parts we would need would be seals for trans, new fluid, front and rear main for engine, oil pan, valve cover gaskets. Head gasket, timing belt, car has a new radiator and water pump. It's gonna be a lot of work but I just don't think I can let the car get scraped with a body like it has. The dash has no cracks...amazing considering the condition of the rest of the car.

My buddy in NY has been in the car scene for a long time and is far from a rookie in dealing with cars and thinks we can do this. I've told him my opinion but he's willing to save this vert so I'm going to help him if that is what he decides.

Id probably pay about 500$ max if it had a clear title. 1) Hard to find a rust free vert, and i am assuming its local. 2) Its in season, so sometimes the prices get jacked up hard even on beat up verts. 3) It will need a few g's to get this thing nice, but atleast you will not have to do rust repair/an immediate respray.

I would assume it would be about 4-500 for a top (total guess), probably about 500 for new interior, then drop an m30/50 for about 1.5k. That puts you at about 2.5k for a pretty decent vert. Throw another 500 for fluid flushes, brakes, whatever smaller stuff needs to go down.

My buddy and I talked and agreed we would offer $250. Right away when offered the owner of the vert the $250 he said he would need no less than $350...his asking price is $700. I thanked him for his time and hung up the phone. I let the afternoon go by and called him after I got off of work and made him a final offer of $300. He said he wants to hold onto it until Wednesday to see if he gets any other offers....and if he doesn't he will let it go for $300. We will see what happens next week...stay tuned.

that's gonna end up being a $5000 car unless you got the hookups.

We do...but even at $5k...at least we know it has new parts and it was the work was done correctly.

When I first saw the car in person I said...no way in hell, this thing is trash...and right now it is...but I've seen worse (non-e30s) that have come out great. Personally I would not be taking on this project but I will be helping out my buddy and we have 2 more friends that are very sharp with cars. One of them is finishing up converting a VW Jetta GLI into a all wheel drive...bought a wrecked R32 and has been converting drivetrain as well as the back half of the Jetta unibody to be able to bolt up the rear subframe of the R32. This vert will be in capable hands, I just got overwhelmed when I first saw the car.

i didn't say that to scare you away, rather that the 'intro price' of $350 is a drop in the bucket compared to the work it will need.

the important part is that, as you said, you will know each and every part that went into it and can rest assured in the quality of the work.

I would say it is worth the $350 solely for the rust-free body. All the damage is minor and fixable. Interior is replaceable. The top looks decent, but may need replacing, which will be the most expensive. All in all, you can build this to your specs for under 5k and have a great running e30.

It could be worth $350 if you're under no illusions about how much work, time and money will be involved to get it to a reliable condition.

That looks like a complete rebuild, pull the engine & tranny, pull the interior, metric assload of body work, etc. You must be young and full of energy
