    missing wheel!

Well I was driving home from the grocery store tonight and heard a strange clunking noise, so I stopped and looked around and nothing out of the ordinary. So I went on my way, well my car started vibrate and sway real bad and BAM the ass of my car is slammed and I swore I lost my wheel and it was rolling down the road. I coasted to a stopped and got out to check my messed up rotor and well my wheel was still there. hmmmm what the hell just happened? Being the worst time to forget my cell phone at home I ran for about a mile and almost rolled my ankle so I walked for another through downtown corvallis and then ran the rest of the way home, got ahold of Jordan and we went to check out my car. turns out I did lose a wheel, it just wasn't rolling away, the wheelwel trapped it and the rotor was rolling on the wheel. Damage was a scratched up inner part of the wheel and a stripped out bolt hole. Lesson leared: never forget your phone and get locking nuts, and dont run in chuck taylors!!

How would locking nuts have helped? It sounds like you didn't torque them down.

I prefer to use Red Loctite on my wheel bolt threads.
Or apply a small dab of JB weld to the threads before tightening them down.
'common Charlie, get with the game.

Thanks, Chris. It's a message as well as a way to remember my car. I really miss it.

                      The countdown clock returns.

holy crap was that with the stock lug bolts? ive been really afraid that thats going to happen to me. when i sold my old wheels and put my basketweaves back on, during that week some guy yelled to me from his car saying my rear wheel looked loose and was wobbling. i couldve sworn i tightened them all enough, but when i got back home i could practically turn some of the lug bolts with my fingers once the car was in the air. a couple weeks later, that same wheel got a little loose again, and now, after another couple weeks, i think it may be comming loose again
