at the end of the day its still a clear title 318is thats worth WAY more than an non running e car.

if op doesnt trade buttchug may go buy this. youve been warned.
I talked him down to 1300. Going to pick it up. The car's paint will get fixed.

What's the original color? Diamantschwarz? I wouldn't skimp on the paint job - get that shit done properly.

Yea. It's going to get taken back to fix the running paint. I already talked to the PO about it and got all the info. Not concerned. This car drives infinitely better than the 325e did. Plus I can lock all the doors from the outside. Woohoo!

For the $1300 you could have probably got a 318 without having to trade your 1986 E

Agreed. There are always better M42s and better ETA motors than others, but I'd rather have an ETA, 9/10 times. IMO, of course.

OP, glad you did what made you happy.

I think you came out ahead. I went from an 86 325es to a 91 318is. Wouldn't go back. I still have an eta hanging around, but I enjoy driving the m42 car more.

Good decision imho, but I would make sure he takes the car back to have paint fixed... The body shop has no responsibility to you as you have no $$$ directly spent with them... def make him take it back to get fixed before said transaction or you may regret it.

A chipped M42 makes almost the same power as an eta, but is lighter and revs higher, so...
