Can't say I have much sympathy for rThor compared to the value of all that was stolen from Van. Go and price it all out. Really, you can hardly compare the situation. You just can't.

Van can't open a paypal dispute. He can't bombard the guy with texts or phonecalls or PM's or emails. He can't make the business public on a forum to call the guy out. He can't threaten legal action. He can't do anything. His shit is just gone.

Trust me, I feel for being out $1000. Over the years I've been scammed for more than that on ebay and from a few different members on here who turn into ghosts. It sucks. But if you're in contact with a well-known guy with options to get it back one way or another, you say enough is enough and you get in their fucking face about it. Doing it here in this thread... I don't know man. Getting all that stolen is just on a completely different level.

I'm pretty sure rThor can't file a dispute with paypal or even with the police/small claims because it has been 3 years and it seems like 1K would fall just shy of felony (I could be wrong since idk where OP or rThor live). If a person has enough balls to (what seems like but still up in the air) ignore a bombardment of texts and forums shaming I am sure he cares as little as the e30 thieves about making things right.

Should he have disputed earlier? Hell yes, but we don't know the circumstances as to why he didn't. As of now rThor might (big might) be able to legally do something but looking at the cost/benefit aspect it might not be worth it to him. Whereas Van IF he can find his car does have options and certainly can get his stuff back... unless the car has been junked. So saying you can't compare the two really undermines the complexity of it all.

And I am definitely not playing down the fact that his car was stolen. I have had my car stolen/stripped and abandoned and it's absolutely infuriating and makes you want to stomp on kittens, but If I were to have pulled a move like van I would suck it up to karma, still not believe in karma, hope I find my car & make things right.
