    How Does This Work

They say it is drive by wire technology and uses a microcomputer... but I am still baffled. It cant be a solenoid!

I'm guessing a computer controlled linear actuator.

A few strings and some paper clips. Simple! But on the serious note, seen this before and always wondered.

Either servos or linear actuators. Probably with an encoder.

Depends on if the switch is variable resistance (potentiometer), or if it is indeed just a switch. Could be anything. But if it were me, it would be a pot on the shifter, a linear motor with an encoder on the pedal, and an Arduino/Raspberry Pi/PLC/PID controller used for the fine motor control and tuning. Easy peasy.

Of course, it can get much more complicated if you want to involve sensors to measure the rest of the clutch system and operating parameters.

VW just used a torque converter and a vacuum switch
back in the '70's, and it worked... about as poorly as you'd think.

            But it worked.

That's convenient if your left leg is missing. It's cool, but I prefer using my leg.

possible interest in designing this for me..?
