    timing belt snapped and.....

I have a grand to fix it. I dont want to drop 1400 on a head from Matt. M20 has 231000 miles. Ran flawlessly til today. I have a 4.10 lsd I was going 5 mph from a stop sign and it broke. Shut it off pulled off the valve cover and found that. So whats your opinions? Junkyard head, have it completely tested and drop it in or what?

I have an minty 885 head that I bought from Levent. Low miles, paid 275, you can have it for 250.

No offense I might just go to a junkyard and buy one for 40 dollars and spend about 50 for machining to have it all checked out.

Most junkyard heads are in the same shape as yours and $50 wont get you much past the front door of a machine shop. If $250 buys you a bolt on ready head thats a deal.

Yeah I understand. However my buddies dad has far too many connections with performance shops, machine jobs you name it. Guy built so many supercharged muscle cars, and every muscle car he owned was a minimum of 800hp + 200shot nitrous

A friend welded one that looked like that back together for me.

                  Just for kicks.

$250 for a good head is very good price. i've pulled 8 heads at the junkyard before getting a perfect one. then paid $100 to junkyard and $60 to get it machined and 4 hours of my time lapping the valves.

PS bullshit, there is no such thing as a good m20b25 with 230k-mi. the whole lower end is shot. you know that tremble it makes when you first start it, ya that's the crank bearings crying. throw your entire engine out or rebuild it.

Opinions are like assholes. Everyone's got one. This thread points at the tendencies of the original thread maker towards assholes.
