    Same shell different engine.

    Your choice!

Both are great in their own way, but I do like my 318is VERY much! You'll have to choose for yourself.

I would not rule out non-s versions... A 4dr with lsd is sweet. All depends on the condition and price of the individual car in question.

While I love my 318, I don't think Id buy another.

Fun car, but put it up against pretty much any other BMW, and it doesn't compete performance wise, I didn't get much more than 3-4 mpgs better compared to my M20. Not worth it.

Most fun car to toss around though, did notice the weight difference pretty well but theres zero feeling of torque coming from the m42.

They are both great cars. Go for the one in better condition for the price. Engine swaps really changed everything, so now it doesn't matter what model the car is. If u want more power it can simply be swapped. It kind of a shame though imo, as the 318i and 325 are distinctly different. This is being lost due to swaps.

                  Pretty much

Both great cars, depends what you want out of it. Most go with the 325 but it's not inherently better.

Its funny how people say "I couldnt imagine driving a slower E30"

Buy an E30 with an M10.

Ok well im planning on doing a swap when i get one. I have a 83 BMW 533i e38 And i wanna swap the motor a 3.2l. To the e30. Would it be easy to do that or easier to just throw a chevy 350 in it?

coming from a 325es i considered a nice 318is once. then held out for a nice 325is instead. the 318is was too slow.
If it's got tits or tires, it's gonna cost ya!

don't get either is' models then.
they would be a waste for what your plans are, not to mention ruin their exclusivity.
just buy a run of the mill early model or 4 door

                                A matter of preference.
