    Check your fuel lines/hoses!

I was lazy and didn't replace the rubber hose by the fuel filter. It started leaking so I'll be doing a parking lot repair this morning. Not a big deal, just annoying. I replaced all the under hood hoses a few years ago.

If you haven't changed your hoses, do it sooner than later!

It cost me $3 for a foot of fuel injection hose and took about 15 min to replace the two short pieces that were bad. I ordered a fuel filter and will be swapping out the rest of the hoses underneath (whatever is left) this afternoon. CHEAP INSURANCE for not having a toasted car

My '85 clearly caught fire after a fuel line deteriorated. Much of the original fan, horn, and some other stuff is melted, the fuel lines are dated 2007, and a partially used fire extinguisher came with the car. I also highly suggest ALWAYS having a fully charged fire extinguisher readily accessible should the worst happen. Once again, it is cheap insurance.

My buddies e30 when I was originally going to go buy it before he did; caught fire. Right as we were about to leave to drive and look at it.. Needless to say the value went from $1000 to $320 very quickly..

Lol this reminds me when I was replacing my spark plug wires and touched what i think was the return line next to then fuel pressure regulator it's then rubber hose that goes to the fuel rail near the circle thing where you reset your oil service indicator forgot what it was called I touched the rubber line and it immediately soak up with fuel on the outside. Foul smell of fuel in the engine bay check next day it's dry nothing's up start it up still dry. I tell my dad about it this fool starts messing with it now its literally dripping fuel loosens the fastener push it in more tightens it start it up RAW FUEL EVERYWHERE I'm just like dad you done goof'd luckily I was half way in to car still to turn it off within seconds and the bay was cold. This all happened in th garage so we just cut a piece off the end cause it was brittle slapped it back on all good. I'm going to replace all the lines soon.

I appreciate someone with a Richard Hammond avatar commenting just after this.

I can't believe all that got squeezed into 3 sentences.

Make sure you use real fuel injection hose...

sae 30r9 (C-U-06-01) for external hoses and sae 30r10 for in tank.

                  The e30 uses 8mm (5/16")

What he said... there is a difference especially for the in tank hose.

Didn't have time to use proper grammer. I Knew I was going to get flamed for it, but it makes me feel that much better that you read it. :)

My mom had snapped a timing belt. Once I got her good and running.. she drove 80 miles to visit my dad. Apparently, that exact hose that OP stated was dry rotted to shit.. and pissed all her gas out, resulting in a 80 mile tow.

Check it out you guys. all the other feed hoses were good.. so its weird how one hose can go so terribly bad.
