This is my main beef with the stance-"scene". Had it not been for the scene, there would be a lot less morons on the road today. Period.

That was exactly my point... These "scene" stance cars do not come equipped with the same bracing and safety features as a track car and are potentially more dangerous than a track car will ever be. Like I said before, catastrophic failure in a track car: they come prepared and are more than capable of protecting the occupants. Catastrophic failure in a street car; you better pray nothing bad happens.

Last time I checked every single other road car doesn't come with those safety features either...

Last time I checked, every single other road car was able to transverse mountainous speed-bumps and the mightiest of pebbles with ease?

You're changing the topic, now. What we're talking about is safety. Traversing speedbumps is not a safety concern.

Until the guy behind you slams your rear end

            BOOM

            Safety concern.
Even moderately lowered cars and track cars are spec'd with some kind of suspension give for normal road use. I'm assuming that's why you run an "i" lip versus an iS lip, no?

Ok, now you're talking retarded low cars. My point from the very, very beginning is that you guys place this stereotype of people driving cars that are scraping on smooth surfaces on all of StanceWorks when in reality that is not true. My car is perfectly streetable. I could drive it with an iS lip. I don't because I don't own one.

Racecar stance is the most beautiful.
                .
Stock-ish stance is most beautiful for family transport.

But acting like you're better than someone just because you choose to modify your car a different way is legitimately silly. (You/your are not pointed at you. I'm using it as a general subject)
                    first statement: completely wrong.
There is absolutely a wrong way to modify a car. There are dozens of wrong ways. There may be several right ways.

Stance, not a fan off poorly fitting wheels, stretched tires, fenders damaged almost irreperably, or at least to the point that the car is no longer of any value to anyone who isn't a stanceypants.
I enjoy some of the cars on stanceworks, those with properly fit wheels, etc even of overly lowered. Hey I'm a former mini trucker. The mexipoke and stretched tires are not new, they just have been considered passé for 25 years.
Probably because they were a result of lack of options and funds in those days.
To intentionally replicate poor quality while spending hundreds or thousands to do so... Is frankly asinine.
But you have your ideas and I have mine. I will say nice car to those I like, and try my damnedest to do like momma said and say nothing to the rest. I enjoy reading some of the build threads on 2002s w108s and w114/115s and the occasional aw11, e9 e21 or e30 or e34. Until it gets to mexipoke status, which many thank goodness do not.
But when stanceypants in the left lane can't do the speed limit because he or she is too low and their tires are so cambered they look like they are gonna pop, then stanceypants and the rest of the stancers (vdubbers as well) are causing problems for other more rational and safety conscious enthusiasts. And yes, this stanceypants was proudly sporting a huge stance works banner.
That's a pretty shit attitude to throw everyone else under the bus so you can wreck things, and then want to be hugged and told "we accept your stupidity and support you".

I am amused by the article's implied assumption that the Stancefolks are only ever the victims of unwanted sneers and jeers from the car community at large. I and others I know have been heckled immensely by local Stancefolks for NOT stancing my/our cars to their liking. It's pretty damn funny actually, especially when they get offended when it's their car being made fun of right after ragging on my car to my face. I won't paint all S|W folks with the same brush, as some are genuinely good chill people. Some are just idiots with big mouths, microscopically thin skins, and crap photography.

I get it, not everyone is a track person, nor even interested in it. I'm not a stance person nor remotely interested by that subculture. I don't understand the appeal of ruining a car's usability just to shoot photos of it with a DSLR and post them on the internet. But that's fine. Others don't see the point in spending metric tons of money to go drive around in circles quickly for a few minutes at a time.

The article, as was mentioned earlier, is nothing more than a plea for acceptance by a large group with a strange victimization complex. If you want to be accepted, grow a thick skin and realize not everyone will like what you do. Furthermore, be able to take and brush off criticism especially if you're all too happy to dish it out on others. Throwing a pathetic hissy fit (aka...the article) anytime people don't jump on the stance circlejerk wagon just makes you look like a spoiled brat.

You have the right to do with your car what you want. I have the right to like or dislike it and speak my mind. Accept that and move on.

I can appreciate SW for its creative niche in the automotive culture. There are some talented folks over there and I really enjoy the photography, articles and video production.

But I have my personal opinions just like anyone else. In the end, the energy spent on not liking something with this much passion is unnecessary for me.

this is the same crap I always dealt with back in the MINITRUCK days, actually STANCE is nothing new, its just an extension of what we were doing in the early 90's with trucks.
