Amen. You won't always use it but you can fit all the gear you want in those bag boys.

Well, we went and test drove some cars today, and think we have fallen back on the odyssey/sienna for best, overall, fit. Drove a flex, and while I did really like it, I just don't think it was as accommodating as the honda/Toyota minivans are. I'm giving us a couple weeks, to make sure we aren't jumping into anything (even though that means driving the e30 with no ac for that length of time) I really want to make sure we get into a vehicle that will give us a solid 5 years of service, and offer some resale value after that time as well. I appreciate the people that have PMd me and offered to help, hopefully something comes along that will benefit my family and I, along with an online family member. Thanks for all the input guys.

These actually hold their value extremely well, but they are a bit hard to find.

with this as an emphasis, i'm going to repeat my suggestion of subaru tribeca- subarus lead the field in resale value and reliability, and that specific model was surprisingly fun to drive, for an SUV-type. styling on them is... weird, but they're worth a look.

2004 GMC Denali body style fully loaded with about 100,000 miles. Use $7,000 and do maintenance. They are great trucks. Bad on gas thou.

Another vote for 7.3 Excursion. Also like GM Suburbans/Yukons. We've had a few as crew trucks and personal vehicles and they have been extremely reliable

Buy a transferable warranty on the Ody, if you have the budget/time. Hondas aren't what they used to be. Call it peace of mind or hedging your bets. Will make your life easier if your wife has mechanical issues as the miles climb.

A friend of mine would pull all the seats out of his Honda minivan and haul full sheets of plywood... sounds useful.
