New news for the Bangle hatters :)

    AutoWeek 2 Feb 04

In other hot Euro-designer news, reports are surfacing that soon after the Geneva motor show launch of the BMW 1 Series, Chris Bangle will move on after 11 years as BMW design maestro. But rather than leaving, Bangle reportedly will move up a spot to be in charge of design for all of BMW, Rolls-Royce and Mini. If that occurs, someone will be hired to take Bangle's spot in BMW design, and many of the rustlings stem directly from the prospect of the choice BMW design post being available. So far, BMW declines comment.
Rest assured, some or all of this will be answered by the time we leave the Geneva show.

He can do whatever he wants to Rolls Royce, but if he starts fucking up Mini's too, there's going to be some hurt going on.

see the thing is he will have less power and more money in his pocket if that is true. someone else will step into his old (current) job and take over the designing.

He has been around for 11 years? Why is his rubbish just showing up now?

Yeah, he came to BMW in '93 but was in charge of DesignWorks in California (which is owned wholly by BMW, but does work for various other companies as well). He was promoted to head of BMW design and moved to Germany a few years later, but because of design gestation period (~4-6 years), most of the stuff he oversaw didn't come out until recently.

The way BMW works is unlike a lot of other car companies. If they are going to use a design, tehy use ONE person's ENTIRE design; they don't mix and match.

I guess bangle bombarded them long enough that they finally let in :?:
