Wow. That is a bmw first. Give that motor and computer to AA and there is 450+hp with simple bolt ons.
Now the question is what is the M3 going to have? If the regular 3 series has about as much as the old M3 had power wise then they definally are going to step it up. They need to drop a V8 or something unique in 3 series line like the E30 M3 had with the 4cyl.

If the US doesn't get the bi-turbo engine, tuners will step in and take care of that. My guess BMWs reason for is doing this has something to do with either A) the straight-6 in NA form is about as evolved as it can get in terms of output, or B) the marketing of their cars as to how they are positioned in the product line up (3.5L turbo six @ ~300bhp, 4.0L V8 @ ~400bhp, and 5.0L V10 @ ~500bhp).
Porsche did this very tactic with the new Cayman....gracing it with power and performance that positioned it just above the Boxster S but below the bread-n-butter making 911.
