If you were worried about a long drive..

    don't be.

Bought my 87 325e sight unseen (ok had a maintenance history unlike any ever seen before but still) and just drove it 3500 miles in 5 days. Purred like a kitten.

    Trip report to follow.

Can attest to this...50% of the time. First purchase i'm surprised we survived driving it home (granted we were stupid at 18 and bought it at first sight).
Most recent purchase though, bought it after a quick 15 minute look over and close to no maintenance history and god knows how many owners, and apart from the autotrajic acting up, zero issues in close to 600km in a few days :)

      ditto.

bought my 2nd e30 from a fellow in Toronto Ontario, and drove it 500+KM home past Ottawa.

      ran awesome.

I've bought 3 cars this way and have only had minor issues, although, one was on the verge of death the entire way, only to erupt after getting home a few days later.

bought both my e30's this way.
first one from LA back to the yay.
second from TX, 1800 miles back here taking a couple few hour breaks (to fap of course).
(both of these purchased based off 3 pictures mind you).

and I'm still alive to make this post, yolo.

I just bought an e30 2 hours away and the timing belt was last replaced in 1999. I baby it (60 mph) and pray the belt doesn't snap on the way home.

Drove my car from San Diego to Tacoma, WA for the e30 picnic. After busting the radiator in our after picnic drive, Luke jb welded it back up and it went back to San Diego without a hitch. Then replaced the radiator and drove from San Diego to Greenville, TX the next week. That drive back from TX was with a fully loaded small Uhaul trailer. I think in that month I did well over 5,000 miles without a hitch. The drive back

Went with a friend from L.A to Oakland, CA just to find out the car(ETA) only had 5th gear. Started and drove only on 5th gear to home.
