Eric, I will certainly let you have it if I end up passing on it.

Good to know. I'll examine the wheels for the width and report back.

i think it sounds like a good deal but i see these cars for sale around here for 3-4k quite often. (if you don't believe me, just check my local craigs.) that is the present day price of a standard e30. i just can't figure out why an m3 is worth almost 30k these days and 16v 190e's are only worth about 1/8th that amount? wtf???

They're mostly junk. I'd spend the money elsewhere.

Emre has an awesome one though.

If you really want a mercedes from that era, i recommend you find a 500E.

Because out of the box stock, the M3 is double if not more the car and much closer to a race car. It is still a Mercedes so heavy, slushy comfy suspension etc

I currently own a 190E Cosworth for about 6 years now. It's also an 87, I did some maintenance work on it through the years. Not very hard car to work on, parts are sometimes expensive.

I have one here semi-local can be had for $900 also with good interior. -But it's auto.

But if you're getting an auto it will rob you of the fun driving the cosworth. I passed up on an automatic Cosworth similar for $1500, with lower mileage than what you're thinking of buying long time ago.

It sounds that car will need more $ in maintenance to be in tip top shape. Also if you are short on parking space, I think I will spend the money elsewhere.

If you really want a Cosworth, add another $2-$3k and you will find a cleaner deal out there.
