i think it sounds like a good deal but i see these cars for sale around here for 3-4k quite often. (if you don't believe me, just check my local craigs.) that is the present day price of a standard e30. i just can't figure out why an m3 is worth almost 30k these days and 16v 190e's are only worth about 1/8th that amount? wtf???sigpic

I currently own a 190E Cosworth for about 6 years now. It's also an 87, I did some maintenance work on it through the years. Not very hard car to work on, parts are sometimes expensive.
I have one here semi-local can be had for $900 also with good interior. -But it's auto.
But if you're getting an auto it will rob you of the fun driving the cosworth. I passed up on an automatic Cosworth similar for $1500, with lower mileage than what you're thinking of buying long time ago.
It sounds that car will need more $ in maintenance to be in tip top shape. Also if you are short on parking space, I think I will spend the money elsewhere.
If you really want a Cosworth, add another $2-$3k and you will find a cleaner deal out there.
