    Why 5-lug over 4-lug......?

This may sound like an odd question from me as I have dump loads of money into my 5-lug setup.....

That being said, I guess I'm not totally sold on it.......yet. Obvious benefit is the brake upgrade, but looking back I could have had a Massive kit for a fraction of what I have spent so far. Not to mention, I'm not overly impressed with the wheel options that are in my price range.

My build is plentiful in the power department so stopping is a big deal, beyond that give me reasons why to stay with it and not revert back to 4-lug, which has a far higher selection of wheels that are lighter and fall into my price point.

From my understanding the biggest incentive is for wheel choice. I came to the same conclusion you did before starting my project and decided to stay with 4 lug and just get a BBK, even though I had a complete e36 M3 suspension and brake setup from my parts car. Some others who have gone 5 lug might have other ideas.

        Wheel choice, bigger brake choice.

Depends on how it's swapped, but in the case of m coupe/roadster rear trailing arms you net larger rear bearings and axles as well which put up with to increased hp, slicks, and track use better.

I used z3 hubs/rotors and calipers in the rear so about the only thing I gained was 25mm or width. I did replace the bearings though....

So, you are saying you don't want to spend $1k/wheel I am guessing. What is wrong with factory BMW wheels?

Nothings wrong with them at all, except that none of them are wide enough for my liking. If you haven't seen my build lately i'm going to be north of the 500hp mark. I want some sort of traction......right now for the price and weight the Apex ARC-8 17x10 is what I'm leaning towards. That's about $1400 shipped.

I foresee issues with a smaller wheel

you can run smaller. you could do 9s if you run R888 or RS3s all the time. bc 10 doesnt fit well under the front.

I have a backup plan if it doesn't fit the fender. I just wanted to aim at a wheel that whould give me proper traction and then go from there.
