I've got probably $1,500 into a complete 5 lug swap. That is money above and beyond maintenence of stock parts. The reasons i did this swap were:
- car needed a brake job
- suspension re-fresh was required because of a complacent previous owner
- bottle caps on the car were boring
- selling off some stock parts helped recoup 10 percent of the cost
- 225 section width tires have really helped with the grip(which is hard to do on an oem 4 lug wheel)
- alignment is setup perfectly
- learning experience
- would do again or swap onto a really clean shell should mine rust out or wipe outComment

I thought it was mostly for brakes...
I mean, if you have money, there are many, many choices for custom sized, custom spec'd wheels out there.

If all you're after is wheel choices, it makes SO MUCH more sense to run adapters. I had them on my car for over a year, and never had a single issue with them. They never loosened up, I never had a single wobble or vibration, nothing. MUCH more cost effective, and they are perfectly safe, no matter what the non-believers may try to tell you.Comment

But, you have a garage car Josh. IIRC, he is building an insane +500hp track monster.
(I mean that in the nicest way, I'm not dissing your car or you in any way, but yours isn't a DD, nor a track car, right?)Comment

why spend all the money on time making power and cheaply getting it to the ground?

Because that's how it rolled out of the factory (narrowbody factory 5-lug, oooo yeaaaa).

I drive it every day to work, but it does spend winters in hibernation. I guess my statement was pretty blanket, I would yield if it's a track/performance car that you're looking to 5-lug swap, adapters probably wouldn't be the way to go.Comment

I looked at the cost of doing a proper 5-lug conversion and realized you can get practically any baller 4x100 wheel setup you want with that budget. Doesn't really make sense unless you're getting a hell of a deal on the parts.Comment

Nothings wrong with them at all, except that none of them are wide enough for my liking. If you haven't seen my build lately i'm going to be north of the 500hp mark. I want some sort of traction......right now for the price and weight the Apex ARC-8 17x10 is what I'm leaning towards. That's about $1400 shipped.
I foresee issues with a smaller wheel
They look like this, although they are missing the caps.
